Default Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Might Launch Next Week Discussion

Motorola has accidentally revealed the launch date for the Droid RAZR MAXX -- so named because of its super-high-capacity battery. The wait for this high-end Android device apparently isn't going to be very long.

I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully, it can start a trend of larger batteries the same way that we've been seeing larger screens. The MAXX seems to prove that a big battery isn't anathema to being slim.

over this past weekend, I was away from being able to put my Droid X on any kind of charger, once I left in the morning, until returning at night -- not a good experience. day 1 was a rude learning experience; days 2 and 3 were better, but that's mainly because I had data turned off unless I specifically was using it, in short bursts. this is a 3G phone, with good signal; I'm guessing that a good part of it is allowing email and weather apps to update in the background, but still, quite a disappointment. by comparison, my wifes iPhone4 breezed through the day.....

It might breeze through the day, but I dare say if you go beyond one day or so it's going to be tricky. For as vital as we've managed to make smartphones, we're even better at making ways to drain their batteries, and it's only getting worse. And you don't even have an LTE phone, or one with a dual-core processor, etcetera, etcetera...

Plus, the Maxx seems to do away with the outcropping on the back, which is 'cheating' anyway.

CDMA will literally suck battery more than GSM, especially when the reception is weak. CDMA will boost power to the reception and transmission, and that's going to eat battery like no other. But then that's also why it seems Verizon can hold their connectivity better than AT&T. I made some experiments and observations using my Droid Incredible for example, vs. the GSM HTC Desire and Desire Z, and the differences can be startling.

LTE will certainly eat more power than CDMA and EV-DO.

Best way to save power in the house without losing internet connectivity is have your handset connect to home wifi. That also won't add to your monthly data quota.
