HTC Rezound Review: The Beats Go On Discussion

The HTC Rezound is an Android smartphone aimed at audiophiles -- it's the first to have integrated Beats audio technology. It also features a dual-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, a 4.3-inch display, 4G LTE, and an 8 megapixel camera.

The smartphone is available from Verizon Wireless for $300 with a new two-year service contract. That price is higher than the typical $200 or $250, but the Rezound comes with a pair of Beats earbuds that are valued at $120.

One question about the proprietary power cord. Is it one of those weird ports that accepts a microUSB cable for charging, but has extra contacts for when you press the proprietary cable in further? I know some devices are doing that now.

Audiophile?, I seriously doubt any audiophile would be caught dead using anything Beats by Dr Dre, AFAIK, it still uses SOC hardware and software DSP......no dedicated hardware on the system board, which is quite normal for HTC.

Yeah, it definitely is overhyped. And the Times had a real takedown piece on Beats in the paper the other day. Apparently, they are the old-style 'pump up the bass' school of audio. I have to say though, there are a couple of over-the-ear models that LOOK good at least.
