Wow, ICS blows me away. I doubt my G2 will get it, but this may finally drive me to root. As far as carriers for the Galaxy Nexus, it sounded like the Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile 4G bands were supported (LTE or HSPA+). It is just a matter of who wants it which I assume would be everyone.

It looks good, now the carriers and manufacturers have to find a way not to screw it up.

If they have kept to the "Nexus" concept, there should be no carrier modification of ROM. Ed?

On the nexus question, I wonder if it might be of reduced importance with ICS. Google has clearly been reconsidering it's posture with regard to carrier/manufacturer modifications over the past year or so (thinking back to stories I don't have on hand to link to). On the one hand, I'd love to see individuals and non-profit groups have full open source access so projects like xdandroid and cyanogen mod can continue their work unscathed, I'd love to see commercial entities have their hands tied a little.
Nice. Always a requirement for me. Won't have to wait for someone to make something like that compatible with ICS, or hopefully any android version going forward. Many subscribers to U.S. wireless carriers are? having to get used to tiered data plans, not unlimited ones. Android OS 4.0 will include software to help users know how much data they are transferring, what apps are using the most, and even cut off the connection when a certain point is reached.
In other news, they really exaggerated the curve for that teaser video. The teaser video made reference to two things that went well together, was that just "ice cream" and "sandwiches" or was there another reference?I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

I've always hoped Google would prevent baking without undoing someone's ability to run a 3rd party launcher. If HTC could run sense just like I run ADW, and users could disable if they so chose, I think that would be great for everyone.
I'd hate to see user choice restricted in the name of clamping down on fragmentation caused by manufacturers and carriers.I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

i was less questioning it for the Nexus phone and just looking overall at the release of ICS. I look forward to 4.0 on my Nexus S 4g, but don't want a slab the size of the Galaxy Nexus. After living with the Epic 4g and the EVO Shift and moving to the Nexus S 4g I have no interest in going back to skinned Android.

I was confused by the acronym because I always think of ICS as Internet Connection Sharing, not Ice Cream Sandwich. The ability to tether is often a consideration with smartphones, so it took me a bit to catch on, even in the context of this thread.
