HTC Trophy to be Verizon's First Windows Phone 7 Model Discussion
Promotional posters and now in-the-wild pictures have confirmed the existence of the first Windows 7 Phone for Verizon: the HTC Trophy. The Trophy is rumored to debut at some point in late March, with an official announcement expected from Verizon any day now.

Re: HTC Trophy to be Verizon's First Windows Phone 7 Model Discussion
Had my first chance to fiddle with WP7 this weekend. It was another model at an AT&T store. I must say that the ease-of-use thing seems to be true. I could do without the fluffy animations but at least they were quick.
Another thing that seemed good was the onscreen keyboard. Accuracy was quite good even with my dyslexic digits.
I read an industry newsletter this morning which notes that, as of this model's adoption, Verizon will be the only carrier with all the major smartphone OSs.

I found it interesting that Verizon Wireless CTO Tony Melone doesn't think too much about Windows Phone 7's chances of doing very well in the market. (cnet interview published 2/15)

I read that. I guess it's VZW's way of saying "you need us more than we need you" after the Kin debacle. Or it could have just been his straightforward opinion of the OS.
I thought this statement was also curious:
"If HP decides to license WebOS that could also become a third or fourth player that is used by OEMs," he said. "I'm more optimistic with WebOS developing into a strong player, just based on the strength of the OS. It has some very unique and good characteristics."
So he likes the OS but not so much if it's only on HP's own machines? If so, why is that not a strike against the Iphone as well? AFAIK, HP has no intention of licensing its OS to anybody else.
