Yeah, both seem like variations of the Desire HD/MyTouch 4G theme, 1GHz 8255 Qualcomm and 768mb RAM.
The one thing new is the Incredible using a 4" screen, plus having GSM. I would think the NA version is supposedly for Verizon.I am @guamguy on Twitter.

Re: HTC Incredible S and Desire S Build on Last Years Smartphones Discussion
Looking at their lineup, I guess HTC found a killer concept on the Nexus One and didn't want to stray away from that formula especially when it brought such enormous success. Even their WP7 phones are following the same formula. Its like ever since the Nexus One, all the HTC phones all have this look and feel to it. HTC sort of tried another look with the Aria and Droid Incredible and seems to have succeeded on that too, but I guess the N1 signature look sticks the best.
I feel that Motorola, LG and Sony Ericsson has the biggest potential for a splash this year. I feel that HTC is trying to be "safe" after having a strong run of success, while Motorola, LG and SE are both taking risks, although in different ways. Samsung is still not afraid of taking risks too.
I do think that HTC might have dual core powerphones though, but don't expect to see much until rumors in the Q2 and a summer release.Last edited by Drillbit; 02-15-2011 at 09:33 PM.

Re: HTC Incredible S and Desire S Build on Last Years Smartphones Discussion
I'm not sure how these fit in to their plans here in the US. They're not really all that new, just mostly a freshening, with many of the features already available on specific carrier models. I presume the Incredible S will be exclusive to Verizon (based on the name) and the Desire S will be meant to be sold unlocked and/or with carriers? In and of themselves, the two are pretty similar except for screen size.

Re: HTC Incredible S and Desire S Build on Last Years Smartphones Discussion
Desire S is primarily an international market phone, just like its predecessor the HTC Desire. In terms of sales, the Desire probably tops the all time list for HTC. In the US, the EVO tops followed by the Droid Incredible.
Given the enormous impact the Desire had, you can see HTC's reaction to it by producing three sequels, HD, Z and now S.
The S for me seems like a cheap attempt to mimic the S on the Samsung Galaxy S. (People think the S is for Super AMOLED but originally it stood for SK Telecom, the first carrier to host the phone).
Anyway, Desire and Wildfire are generally meant for main, rest of the world distribution. Only Alltell uses CDMA versions of such. One can expect Desire S and Wildfire S to remain so.
I kind of think that Cha Cha and Salsa might be more of interest to US carriers as entry level smartphones. I hear now that AT&T is interested in them.I am @guamguy on Twitter.
