    Default Android OS, iPhone, iPad Users Now Able to Directly Edit Google Docs Discussion

    Users of devices based on the Android OS and iOS have been able to view the documents and spreadsheets stored in Google Docs for some time. Starting today, smartphone and tablet users can edit these files.

    One extra bit to be aware of: Any file you want to edit has to have been created since last spring. Google put a new word processor in place then, and only docs that were created with it can be edited.

    Even files that were created before then but you've updated since can't be edited.
