Arrow Motorola Droid Pro Hands-on Preview Discussion

The Motorola Droid Pro was officially unveiled last night at the CTIA tradeshow going on now in San Francisco. This is going to be a very business-oriented smartphone running Google's Android OS 2.2.

I was at the Motorola event, so I've had a bit of time to play around with this upcoming model. I'd like to share my earliest impressions of it.

This seems like a weird decision. I don't think businesses, businessmen/women, or their IT managers choose the phone or think it's a BlackBerry substitute because it LOOKS like a BB Torch. They go RIM/BlackBerry because of the seamless enterprise software, e-mail, BBM, and other features.

My father, who just got a Torch, would probably have preferred a landscape-format slider if BB offered one. He didn't get the Torch because of its physical characteristics.

If they are going to leave the RIM Reservation, they are probably going to want really good reasons (features, service, new technology) to do so.

I have a hard time seeing this as a Droid "Pro". Maybe more like a Droid "Pre", or Droid "Q" or Droid "Bold".

Okay, Droid Pro wasn't the global Droid2 people expected.

But there may still be a 3rd yes a third, world phone coming for Verizon, possibly under the name Droid Global, and this is possibly the global Droid2 people speculating about, along with a 1.2Ghz processor.

Form Factor: Like. Screen Size - better than average Blackberry: Like.

QWERTY & numbers on same keys: Fail.

    BlackDroid? DroidBerry?
Pain or damage or despair or even beatings don\'t end the world.
The world ends when you\'re dead.
Until then you\'re got more punishment in store.
Stand it like a man, and give some back.
