If nothing else, this seems to answer the question of "Does Nokia think it needs the NAM market." One has to assume from this that the answer is "yes." Which, honestly, is good news.

It might help; but it may also be too late. When the 'only' (figuratively speaking) smartphone with a lot of 'heat' was only available on ATT (the iPhone), I think Nokia could have made a killer phone with a killer proposition to another major carrier to make the phone their 'halo' phone. Now, I think most carriers would ask themselves what they get out of yet another platform (or in Nokia's case, platforms). You need more training, more resources, etc. And most carriers are likely to be involved with Android, RIM, Windows Phone, and iOS. Unless the phone is so enticing as to be nearly irresistable, I think Nokia has a tough row to hoe.
