Dell Streak First-look Review Discussion
UPDATE: This preliminary review was written based on a relatively short time with the Streak. A much more in-depth review has now been published based on extensive testing:
What is the Dell Streak? That depends on who you ask. The sleek, 5-inch slab is both tablet and phone, offering customers the choice of whether to use it primarily as an iPad-esque tablet device or, if they're brave enough, as a fully-functional phone.Brighthand just received its review unit, and here are some first impressions. A full review will be published in the near future.

I have a Dell Streak now, so if anyone has any questions please ask and I'll see what I can do to answer them.

Re: Dell Streak First-look Review Discussion
I notice the first look has a shot with some other monster phones. I'd love to see the Streak side by side (good comparison shots) with some more standard sized smartphones.
Normally I'd just go to google images, but given the model name I decided I'd probably rather not know.
I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

Re: Dell Streak First-look Review Discussion
I'm torn when it comes to these larger machines. I can deal with bulk and my half-century-old eyes need all the help they can get. OTOH, I can't help but think a larger but still thin device is bound to be more delicate. Glad to hear about the Gorilla Glass, though. Turns out Corning actually invented it back in the 60s and is only now finding a use for it.

Re: Dell Streak First-look Review Discussion
GREAT stuff!
Two things jump out at me:
1. Why is it that no one seems to support FLAC audio? Unless you want to use the totally uncompressed WAV, there doesn't seem to be a 'lossless' audio codec supported. (One caveat: some devices that support WMA also support WMA Lossless or WMA Professional; but not many.)
2. Ed, I think you explained once before why some devices use the 854x480 res, instead of 800x480. Did it have to do with a 'fixed' area made up of the 'extra' 54 pixels? I searched but couldn't find it.
Thanks.
