Re: Windows Phone 7: It's a Whole New Ballgame Discussion
Ah, yes, Mi An, very good point. I was thinking of your point while making that post, but forgot to add it.. That alienating us was a BAD idea (in so much that a number of us will defect, but maybe they can 'afford' that loss for the gains they hope to get)... and was going to mention the recent tech advances to implement dual boot, or simultaneous boot, options.
I'm still hoping they will implement that in the future with WinPho7, but that would assume a lot.... that they have that in the code for future ability, but are not mentioning it because they don't want to promise anything until they see WinMo staying within good numbers of users.
I'll certainly check out the WinPho7 when it comes out, but I don't have my hopes up. My really old "legacy" HTC Touch Pro (nope, not the Pro 2...just the Pro) is doing EVERYthing I want with WinMo6x. Other than a more responsive screen (my Touch Pro is not horrible, but I do envy the iPhone's screen) and maybe a faster CPU (Scorpion, anyone... please oh please oh please) that woudl pull me away, I am quite happy with what I have now.
PS: Thanks for the welcomes all! That was nice to see. I'm a long time reader of the Brighthand RSS feed on my, you guessed it, WinMo phone, but just now got around to visiting on my laptop.

Re: Windows Phone 7: It's a Whole New Ballgame Discussion
I'm with Mi An, and said so in another thread. I don't have an issue with providing 'tiles' tied to apps for XBoxes, Bing, etc. I DO have an issue if the home screen can't be customized or that 3 (and ONLY 3) hardware buttons (with one being reserved for Bing) be allowed. That makes Apple look like the most open platform in history.
The thing about the iPhone is that it is figuratively the functional equivalent of a digital Swiss Army knife. Yes, most of the major functions migrate to Android, etc. (and maybe even more esoteric things will); but nothing offers the panoply of functions that the iPhone does. However, the devil's deal one makes for that, is sacrificing a great deal of other types of flexibility.
