Default Video Preview of the BlackBerry Storm 2 Leaks Out

The BlackBerry Storm 2 has yet to be officially unveiled, but there's no room for doubt that it's coming soon -- especially in the wake of the latest leak: an extensive video preview of this upcoming smartphone.

This video gives a fairly complete review of the Storm 2, discussing its hardware and software.

A Preview of the BlackBerry Storm 2
RIM's next high-end model will greatly resemble its current one, the original BlackBerry Storm, but with a few enhancements, most notably the addition of Wi-Fi.

It will supposedly include BlackBerry OS 5.x, instead of the OS 4.x in the original. Still, the current model is expected to get a operating system upgrade before too much longer.

There is no word yet on what the BlackBerry Storm 2 will cost, and many other details on this model are also unconfirmed. Still, like the current version, it's expected to have Bluetooth, GPS, and a microSD card slot.

    CDMA and GSM
According to unconfirmed reports, both Verizon and Vodafone will be releasing versions of this smartphone -- Vodafone on October, Verizon in November.

Read a ReviewLike its predecessor, Verizon's version (9550) will reportedly be a world phone, with support for both CDMA networks and GSM ones when roaming outside of the U.S., and it will include EV-DO and HSDPA.

Vodafone's (9520) will be a pure GSM model, with support for 3G (HSDPA). According to one report, AT&T may also release a GSM version of the BlackBerry Storm 2.

Right, but don't read too much into it. Prototypes like this are generally unlocked, so he probably could also have used a T-Mobile SIM with it.

Based on what I'm hearing about Storm 2, it deserves a place on my list of next phones. Apparently they have dumped that "whole screen as a button" thing and are using a touchscreen that supports multitouch and is allegedly better for typing than iPhone or iPod Touch. My short list is now Tour, Pre and Storm 2, in no particular order.
