DataViz's RoadSync Exchange Client for Android Gets Calendar Support

When DataViz released the first beta of RoadSync for Android, this application could push email from a Microsoft Exchange server and a smartphone running Google's operating system. The company has continued to add features, and the latest beta adds calendar support.

Unlike many of its competitors, the Android OS doesn't include software for syncing with Exchange, but RoadSync adds this feature.

Beta 5B is the first version that allows users to display their Exchange calendar on their T-Mobile G1 or similar device.

Still, this is a work in progress. Currently, RoadSync only supports downloading  events from the server to the phone -- not two-way synchronization. Users can create vents on the mobile device, but they aren't synchronized with the server. However, meeting requests can be accepted and declined.

In addition, it offers basic features like reminders, Day/Week/Month/Agenda views, and more.

Naturally, all previous features are available: push e-mail, attachments, and synchronizing contacts.

This version of RoadSync requires Android 1.5, and it works with Exchange Server 2003 and 2007.

It is free as long as the beta period continues, and can be downloaded now from the on-device Android Market.

A week or so ago, DavaViz released an earlier version of RoadSync Beta 5. I didn't report on it at the time because it had some very signifant bugs, to the point where I couldn't suggest installing it. There were addressed in Beta 5B.

RoadSync Beta 5C has been released. This appears to be another bug-fix update. You can find it in the Android Market.

This app is finally getting close to the point where I can write a review of it. Before now, it was just too unfinished.
