Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
Oh, yes - VERY good, DTM!

Well, if you really want, we can blame you...Well, some how I just knew it was going to be my fault

I didn't realize they ever had such a department, much less anybody working in it.Is there anyone one still working in the Dataviz 'Customer Relations Department' ?
I agree with Hook: They provide good products (in my experience,) but for a relatively steep price and with virtually non-existent Customer Service. Sort of one of those "grudge buys," particularly for a typical upgrade.
Somedays it's not even worth chewing through the restraints...
I should only have to LET the technology work for me. If I have to MAKE the technology work for me, it's not a tool - It's a boat anchor. And I've got better things to do than manage boat anchors, especially if I don't have a boat.

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
About 3 or 4 years ago, I came to the decision I would only upgrade when I got a new version on a new handheld/smartphone that I buy. This yearly upgrade they do, just to sell me something else, is BS imho. Besides, I always format my files .doc or .xls no matter which version of office I use, via default. (anyone wanna chime in on MS's last upgrade planded to destroy compatability with everyone else's MS office)?

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
Never received this message either, wouldn't be able to act on it anyhow (was away for a looooong weekend).
Too bad, this time I would have taken the offer.
I find this strange. Since the product is being phased out it is in the best interest of the company to maximize income as much as possible to minimize losses on the development costs. They are not going to achieve this by maintaining the normal list price since all customers already know there are not going to be any future evolutions on this platform.
So ... they HAVE to come down (and I bet they will).Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
Plus, every day they hold off means just more potential buyers leaving the 'old' Palm platform, many with a sour taste in their mouth, caused by the Dataviz 'profit first, customer second' policy.
At a cheap price (say $5) it would be a 'why not ?' deal for many, many of their customers.
It might even have the benefit of these customers remembering Dataviz in a better light.
In film crews they have a saying "You are only as good as your last day" (that's what others tend to remember) Dataviz would do well to contemplate this

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
It looks like a new round of this offer is going out. This time I received the email. Offered for me through July 4th.

Thanks for the tip, H. I'm not going to make the mistake of announcing it again. :-D

Yeah, first this, then T-Mobile. I can't blame you for being a little hesitant.

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
Is this worth it? I'm not very fond of DataViz either, but maybe I should do it. I have the Docs to Go that came with my LifeDrive, which I believe is one of the better versions; but I'm not sure which one. I'll check which one I have; but I hear that the newer versions improve some things but do away with other features.

Re: Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade
If you have anything before version 9, it is way worth it. I have version 10 and my TX is retired so it isn't worth it. Of course, that didn't keep me from doing it. Turns out they also then offer you (amongst other things) Smartlist-to-Go for $7.
I couldn't resist. Hookette has been watching Pino get all the goodies lately.
Dataviz is clearly just clearing out their Palm inventory.
