AT&T Commits to iPhone Tethering Plan
iPhone users can do a great deal with their smartphone, but one thing they can't is use it as a modem for their laptop. This may soon change, though.
There are third-party applications that allow this, such as PdaNet from June Fabrics, but Apple blocks these from the iPhone App Store, so to install then users have to jailbreak their device.
However, AT&T Mobility's CEO said this week that his company is going accede to customer wishes and allow them to use their iPhone as an external modem, a process that's called tethering.
Ralph De La Vega did not say whether AT&T will require its customers to pay extra for this service, and he did not say when it will be available, other than "soon".

PDAnet is no good. it works for basic web browsing but u'l get faster performance and longer battery life with 3proxy. with PDAnet the Steam installer always fails at 27%. Steam apparently requires all network ports to be open and either the pdanet or cellular carrier block some of them. Not recommended.

I've had wonderful luck with PDAnet & my iPhone. I can VPN into work & do all kinds of tricky stuff besides web surfing.
SO...if you are affiliated with 3proxy, you should say so up front. People around here don't take too kindly to someone who's promoting their own software by posing as a "user" & their first post is dogging a well respected piece of software while promoting their own software.
