Default Synchronize a Symbian Smartphone with Mac OS X Thanks to Missing Sync

Synchronizing mobile devices with Mac OS X systems is still a sore point for many devices out of the box, and Mark/Space has filled in the blanks with its Missing Sync software. Now available for Symbian devices, this application adds yet another bridge to those looking to utilize mobile devices with OS X.

    Missing Sync for Symbian features:

    • The ability to wirelessly synchronize contacts, calendars and tasks
    • Synchronize music, videos, photos and files with iTunes, iPhoto
    • Archive text messages and call history
    • And a feature called Proximity Sync which uses Bluetooth to sync data automatically when your Mac and phone are close to each other

The Missing Sync for Symbian is compatible with most Nokia mobile phones running Symbian S60 (3rd Edition or later) and Sony Ericsson and Motorola mobile phones running Symbian UIQ 3.0 or later.

For more information or to purchase ($39.95) visit the Missing Sync website.

just wanted to add that on a Mac some of those items in your list can be synced without MS via iSync via BT (still wireless eh?), but certainly for a "robust" sync MS is the way to go.

For basic phone data, iSync works great, but it won't easily move your music, pictures, etc. I haven't tried Missing Sync for Symbian, but I've used the Palm OS and Windows Mobile versions, and they are 100% worth the money.

right on! I was thinking contacts, notes and calendar specifically. For my SE and Nokia phones I just dragged and dropped photos and music via a card reader.

For PC users SE and Nokia has an app on disk or download that emulates iTunes, so to speak, LOL

Yep, a card reader and iSync can definitely take care of most basic sync needs!

I surprised a friend the other day with how easy it was to pair her phone to her macbook. She had no idea it was possible, or that it could sync!

Even when you're not taking full advantage of the sync potential, it's always good to back up your contacts occasionally, just in case you lose your phone, data gets corrupted, etc.
