Apple Adds iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store to iPhone
Apple has released a new system software update for the iPhone that, among other changes, adds support for the new Wi-Fi Music Store.
iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
The new iPod touch launched with a feature not included in Apple's smartphone: the ability to buy songs from iTunes and download them directly to the device over a Wi-Fi connection.

Other Improvements
This software update includes a raft of other enhancements as well..One of the most significant of these is support for TV Out. Naturally, a set of AV cables is required.
In addition, updated iPhones can display email attachments in landscape or portrait modes.
Also, double clicking the Home button opens either the audio controls or a list of favorite contacts.
More information on iPhone 1.1.1 can be found on Apple's web site.
Installation
This is the third time Apple has updated the iPhone. Like the previous ones, this update is installed by connecting this smartphone to a computer running iTunes. It isn't possible to install it over the air.
Those who has added unauthorized applications to their iPhone should be cautious about installing this software.

I have to say, these have been painless updates to apply. The audio control double click is especially cool. It works even if the phone is locked, which is quite handy while driving...less button pushing to ffwd to the next song or pause the music.

Good for Apple. It's a shame that they're going to go the route of breaking the unlocks and probably the 3rd party software, but it's nice that they're adding more features. I still think that enabling over-the-air iTunes shopping over cellular is a worthwhile idea, even on EDGE instead of 3G.

My guess is this function will come when Apple introduces a 3G phone early next year, as has been rumored. In addition to it running on the new model, the original iPhone will get support for buying songs over a cellular connection, too.
If I'm correct, then Apple will have to change the name of the "iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store" to something like the "iTunes Wireless Music Store".

Re: Apple Adds iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store to iPhone
I purchased a song via my local coffee shop's free WIFI, the day I applied the update. It's very simple and straight forward. I'm looking forward to the Starbuck's thing too, although it will likely be 2009 before it reaches my area. By then I'll be on iPhone version 2 or 3. At any rate when I travel I'll try it.
Agreed also that the music controls are excellent. The speaker phone volume has increased as they said it would.Apple iPhone 8GB
