New Picture of the Palm Centro Leaked
Palm's next mobile device, the Centro, a lower-priced smartphone that will be making its debut on the Sprint network later this year, has had what appears to be its official press photo leaked to the web site Gizmodo.

(view large image) No additional details were part of this rumor other that what has already been reported: $99 price point with contract, and Sprint 90 day exclusivity period.
According to a separate rumor, this model will launch October 14.
Official Details of the Palm Centro
Just over a week ago, Palm gave the world its first glimpse of the Centro. This was not a full announcement of the product, and many details remain unknown outside the company.
According to what little has been revealed, this low-cost model will be the smallest Palm OS smartphone ever; nevertheless, it will still include a full keyboard, touchscreen, and EV-DO.

Well, now that picture is a bit of an improvement over the hacked and blurry, "I took this picture through a sock" images that have been popping up. Nice to see a format change from Palm, and for $99 maybe these forums will have some new members.

The silver and black vaguely reminds me of the old HTC Typhoon smartphones.

I actually like it too, but a picture is not worth much. A few minutes of hands on time with that keyboard will be telling.

Re: New Picture of the Palm Centro Leaked
This feels like deja vue, like I already posted about this, but I'll go ahead and say that the Centro might make a reasonable upgrade path from my 650.
First of all, it won't require me to go GSM which is not a desirable option for me. Second of all, if it's a lot smaller and cheaper, I might be able to buy it "unsubsidized" and avoid another 1 to 2 years of Verizon bondage. The main thing I would want out of it is smaller size and more nvfs memory. Heck, for the smaller size, I'd even break down and get a micro sd if that's all it supported. (Though I'd miss my combo 2 gig sd card/usb stick
)

Re: New Picture of the Palm Centro Leaked
I am guessing that a lot of people will do the same as you are considering. from a BGR leak, the non-contract price will be about $400 FYI. Most likely micro-SD, hopefully microSD, but I could see Palm doing only 64MB and no memory expansion depending on how fast the price for this is to drop.
If your smartphone is so smart, then why are you spending so much time learning it? Shouldn't it learn you and adapt to your leanings?
