Mobile Tech News - iPhone pricing, Treo 700wx on Verizon, Daylight savings fix
Apple iPhone Prices Leaked by Survey
The Apple iPhone has been a very hot topic since its introduction. Between the hardware design and user interface features, it has garnered a good amount of attention from the press. About the only thing that has come out about the iPhone that has not been the greatest of traits is the rumored price point. A recent article at Apple iPhone Review leaked a shot of the pricing for the iPhone (it has been removed). According to the posting:
It appears the iPhone rate plans from Cingular may be the same as Cingular’s current plan options: $39.99 a month for 450 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile calling, and 5,000 night and weekend minutes. The data plans will start at $4.99 a month for 200 messages OR a $19.99 a month data plan for 200 messages plus unlimited Internet and Visual Voicemail.
An additional report at Engadget Mobile says that the iPhone will run $300-$400 after contract.

Treo 700wx for Verizon Reported at Engadget
In addition to the incredible amounts of phones announced and released at 3GSM, rumors of even more phones have abounded. Verizon's rumor mill has gotten into the mix with the report from Engadget Mobile that the Treo 700wx will be coming soon to Verizon Wireless users. The Treo 700wx is the follow up to the first Treo which ran Windows Mobile software, the Treo 700w. This model is rumored to be exactly the same as the current Sprint Treo 700wx model; bringing increased memory as the main feature to the device.
According to the Engadget Mobile article, the Treo 700wx is to see a release around February 20th with prices of $620 retail, $450 with a one-year agreement, and $400 with a two-year agreement (with possible $100 discount on getting the two-year contract). The post also mentions that the Verizon 700wx will come with support for tethering the Treo as a modem for one's laptop/desktop right out of the box.
Microsoft Releases Daylight Savings Patch for Windows Mobile Devices
This year marks the change in the Daylight Savings time ritual with it beginning three weeks earlier and ending one week later. And while one can manually make the changes to some watches and calendars, Microsoft had provided a patch for Windows Mobile users that will do the work of adjusting the clock settings at the new calendar intervals.

Palm Releases Treos in More World Markets

Re: Mobile Tech News - iPhone pricing, Treo 700wx on Verizon, Daylight savings fix
Apart from network architecture and OS ... what would the benefit be of 700wx over let's say, 680 which only costs $400 (down to free in some cases) ?
That's a HUGE price difference !Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Besides network architecture and OS, the 700wx does have high-speed internet. Verizon is also somewhat notorious for their pricing arrangements.

Ah yes, that part I always seem to forget.
Palm really needs to bring Palm OS up to date on that part (probably using the Linux version Palm OS II or whatever it will be called)...
Thanks for the reminder, Adama

While I won't put it past VZW to do the 700wx, I would not be surprised to see them have a summer update of a WM6 Treo. That would not only be good timing on their end, but classic VZW (make you mad you bought something a few months ago when better was right there).
If your smartphone is so smart, then why are you spending so much time learning it? Shouldn't it learn you and adapt to your leanings?
