I just got off the phone with Palm and spoke to a sales rep. They were telling me that the LifeDrive is absolutely discontinued. This is a fact! They did not give me a reason why tho.

    Yes, you are correct!

It just took a long time for the units to be removed from the shelves.

NB and DB, play nice, continue on...

As several people have pointed ut, the LifeDrive was discontinued early this year. The article we ran at the time is here:

Speaking of LifeDrives, one of my friends has one and loves the extra storage-his main selling point. I'd actually consider one instead of a T|X now if it weren't for the slight delay in some instances(which makes it feel like my X50v on WM5 with that infernal compaction thread running).

It also has an interesting pop-stylus like the T|T series, and a convenient hardware orientation switch button as well as an integrated mic and voice memo button-which all amounts to more buttons for games! The power switch is an odd slider, though. Furthermore, I'm not really sure I'd like that button layout compared to the T|X when it comes to LJP and the like, given the solid app button piece, the vertical seperation of said app buttons, and the small edge of the D-Pad compared to the huge center button. Most of all, though, it's a brick! One might have trouble stuffing that thing into a pants pocket!

I've found that it really just uses an internal CompactFlash microdrive that can be replaced with a solid-state card, much like the Sharp Zaurus SL-C3x00 line(only in that case I'd rather have a BT/Wi-Fi combo card instead). Not exactly plug-and-play, but I'd figure that a LifeDrive with a 4 GB solid-state CF card would actually be a very solid device(no pun intended). Can anyone comment on stock LDs vs. CF flash card LDs?
