They did, it's called the Jornada 568.

Seriously, the J568 was *already* a merge of all the best features of the Jornada and iPaq lines. There's nothing they could have brought over from the iPaq that could possibly have improved on it.

Well, the 3.8 inch screen is bigger on the Ipaq. The HP screen was less bothered by BlurType, but what else.....well I guess they both had the expansion sleeves before the 568 was discontinued. I liked the Ipaq speaker at the top design and I think the Ipaq speakers were generally louder than the Jornadas.

Other than that, I just never find a model that is all ups and no downs anyway.

Even my aging eyes aren't bothered by that much of a difference in screen size, and I figure that anyone who needs the extra fraction of an inch in normal use probably needs one of those $5,000 PDAs for the blind anyway.

The iPaq speaker is at the bottom, right in the middle of the joypad to maximize the chance of damage.

Nope, the Jornada 568 is still the most practical Pocket PC, and will remain so for the forseeable future. It could do with being a little smaller but that's not something it could ever get from the iPaq .

Speaker on the 3800 series, I meant. They moved it to the top for the phone edition.

I can't really tell the difference between the 3.5 and 3.8 either.

I guess the fact that 6 months after the merger there is still not a freefall in Jornada pricing shows what a quality device it was compared to the Ipaq. I like the black metal Jornada quite a bit. The metal flip cover and such made it a little heavy, but if it had had the StrongArm and a transflective screen it might have been the winner of round two instead of the Ipaq.

I probably won't be changing PDAs any time soon either.

They did that for the phone edition of the Jornada (the 928) as well... it's hardly an "iPaq feature".

That's the Jornada 548. The 568 has a hard plastic flip cover, a StrongArm CPU, and a transflective screen. It was killed because of the deals Capellas and Fiorina made, not because of any technical shortcomings.
