Re: Palm TX Review
The TX arrived today. So far, so good, though first I had to deal with a self-created nightmare. About a year-and-a-half ago, I bought a palm Tungsten E, loaded it up with a bunch of programs and never used it again, and more or less forgot about it. Once I charged up my new TX and synced it up to my powerbook, I was horrified to discover it littered with a bunch of obsolete software from the E which I couldn't distinguish from the new stuff. Sure enough, there was an immediate conflict -- the media viewer wasn't working. It took me a couple of hours, but I straightened it out and emptied out the extra garbage.
The good news for me is, it appears Blazer will indeed allow me to make html changes to ebay auction listings. Although I won't need to do this too often, it's great for those emergency situations when I don't have my laptop. Blazer seems decent, although I have nothing to compare it to, not ever having used a pocket browser before. It has trouble with complex, graphic intensive pages. It loads some of the pictures, but then stops loading them after it hits a memory limit. Is there any way to allocate more memory to the program? There might be an occasion or two where I need to see a particular jpeg photo on a page.
Bluetooth and WiFi are working fine. Syncing with bluetooth seemed much slower than using a usb connection, though. Any way to speed this up? The TX found my WiFi network without a hitch. VersaMail looks good and is working well. Overall, I'm quite happy with the TX. The price was right ($260), and having WiFi and bluetooth make this an entirely different PDA experience. Now, if I can eventually get my not-yet-purchased Verizon CDMA bluetooth phone to work with this thing using EVDO high speed, I'll be even happier.

Re: Palm TX Review
Holy crap this review sucks. I have never read such an opinianated review on a peice of hardware. I didn't know I was reading an editorial. This makes Nintendo Fan boys look tame. I'm so sorry that certain reviewers are so weak they are unable to press a power button. This thing has built in WiFi so having a cradle is negligible since you can just hotsync wirelessly. I stopped reading half way through because it just got that boring. Stop watching the O'Riely factor, or at the least stop emulating his style. You can't pull it off.
Adam.
P.S.
I will be reading the previous posts since I didn't. Also when my TX arrives from UPS I'll probably comment on it, if my account doesn't get banned first.

LOL - we're not going to ban your account for posting an opinion. You're welcome to it. The bottom line is that Palm isn't doing a lot of things others are, but if those things don't bother you, then fine. The TX is a good device at $300 and the bottom line of the review states as much.

Re: Palm TX Review
I thought the review good. Perhaps what some people might consider "nitpicking", others would consider simply having a detailed review. It's nice to have details and to also have the option of looking at the summary or "bottom line". Mike

Re: Palm TX Review
Good point, if you want a glowing review of 250 words or less, go to PC World. LOL

Re: Palm TX Review
This review is one of the good ones because it does not neglect to mention the device's shortcomings. IMO most reviews have that tendency to elaborate on the positives and play down negatives, or conveniently forget to mention them. This one does not. It is also unbiased as anyone who actually reads it to the end must admit.

FANTASTIC review! I "think" I've finally decided to get this. I've been toying with the idea of getting the new iPod and a PDA...but I've since decided to just go with this. I've been really hesitant to let go of my paper planner... I know:
, followed by ooohs and aaahhhs. lol I have finally made the decision to burn the paper..but I don't want just a simple PDA...I like "bells and whistles" and for the price I can't go wrong with this one. Thanks for helping me stand firm by my decision. I LOVE this place!

Re: Palm TX Review
The clutch part about the TX is the $300 price point. Of course you can find it for less, but it's an easy to use device that should be plenty stable and has WiFi. Good luck with your purchase.

Re: Palm TX Review
Basically you cannot unless you know some serial tricks that no others are using. Palm implements BT syncing over the serial port and therefore it is metered to serial speeds. Not great for syncing or passing files between the two.Syncing with bluetooth seemed much slower than using a usb connection, though. Any way to speed this up?
