    Default WM5 VGA devices?

The crappy battery life on my upgraded Dell X50v and Dell's apparently willingness to blow off customers has me thinking, "So what next?"

I'm looking for a WM5 VGA device without a camera. Does such a device exist?

How about Acer n311? It's really value-for-money and the form factor is great.

    definitely would consider this....

there's some info on it at infosync.com and all over the web actually....

acer.com has it listed too as the n300 with 128/64mb config with bluetooth and wifi....

haven't found it for sale anywhere on www yet though...

In a review of the Acer which I read, the reviewer had mixed feelings. Though it looks great and size is phenomenal, in actual operation, particularly video, the device is wanting.

I got the Axim x51v a couple of weeks ago, and am quite happy with it. As for battery usage, the utility I have estimates battery life at about 5 1/2 hours. Not bad, and with the ability to charge a second battery in the cradle, take the little thing with you, and swap batteries without causing a hard reset, I don't see battery time being an issue.

    The review is at PDAgold.com

The reviewer goes through the "downsides" toward the end of the article.

I converted a professionally made DVD of my wedding to a 640x480 avi file using Omniquiti's Lathe. Runs beautifully with TCPMP on my Axim, and looks great.

i use tcpmp as well and i am watching dvd quality movies....

how do you like lathe? i saw it recently on the pocketdivxencoder website... looks like it does the same exact thing that pdxe did, except with a nicer interface...

did you run pdxe prior to lathe coming out? if so, do you notice any video quality increasing? or is it just the gui that changed?

    thanks

No I haven't used pdxe. Lathe is quite easy to use, has lots of audio and video options to control how the file is converted, and made a very sharp video with good audio quality. I think it's an excellent program.
