Ah, that clarifies things. (Normally, I wouldn't post competing products in a thread, but the original poster never made mention of the fact that it was a commercial product until the post immediately preceding this one) If anyone is interested in a freeware solution, check out Ant Movie Catalog .Originally posted by qualar
The app is now out of beta to register costs ?5 for that you get the app + encoder and any updates that i release.
Not only does it have powerful reporting, import, and export features, it can easily generate a catalog that is viewable on your PPC:

(edit: updated the template for a nicer layout)

I switched from DVD Profiler to AMC over 2 years ago and haven't regreted it. I keep checking in on DVD Profiler every version to see their progress, and it still lags behind AMC.Tom Perconti (aka SpeedRacer - Lancelot of the Information Superhighway)

Sorry you feel so bitter about that sracer. My motivation for producing my app was because I have a VGA pda and no products of this type were available. I initially made this free but then some people started asking for a QVGA version. I didnt need a QVGA version so i asked them if they were prepared to pay a small charge, and they seemed happy. Believe me im not making money out of it if you work hour many hours so far ive put into it ive prob made about 5p an hour.
The use of the Ant product was not an option for me because i use DVD Profiler and have been waiting 2 yrs for them to release a pda version.
But thats the wonderful thing about the net people have lots of options.

I'm not bitter. Just disappointed. Because no where in this thread did you mention that it was a commercial product. I firmly believe that a worker is worthy of his wages, and wholeheartedly support those who take their products commercial. But I also believe in being upfront and honest.Originally posted by qualar

I suggest modifying your first post in this thread with purchase/registration information so that people know right from the get-go that it is a commercial product.Tom Perconti (aka SpeedRacer - Lancelot of the Information Superhighway)

My app is now available in any language. Also the encoder now runs from the command line so you can automate the encoding. ie when you update your dvd profiler database and export the xml. The encoder via task scheduler will encode it. embed the images, compress it then copy it to your pda automatically.

What is there to understand? Am I the only one on the planet that continues to evaluate other products to see if they improve to a point that it is now usable?Originally posted by qualar

sracer, i have obviously annoyed you in some way for that i can only apologise. If my comments have offended that was not their intention.
If you are interested in trying the latest version, which inc extra sort options, search bar and a few other tweaks let me know and ill email it to you, maybe i can get you interested in DVD Profiler again.

Qualar - you kind of brought that on yourself for posting your product announcement in "general discussion".
If your goal was to do product advertising for your app (which is perfectly fine with me, because the more software available to choose from the better), you should have posted this to "Press Releases and Announcements" part of this forum. For the description of that section is "Post your product and site announcements and press releases in this forum".
So don't be surprised (and please don't take it personally) that your product posting will get hijacked w/ alternatives (especially "free" ones) because that's usually been the practice in "General Discussion".Trapper Keeper->Dayrunner->Timex/Microsoft Datalink-> NEC MobilePro400->Toshiba Libretto->HP Jornada 568->HP Ipaq 2215->

It isnt sracer highjacking my thread that concerns me, i think choice is good. I just object to the way he words his replies to make me sound like some sort of crook trying to mislead people.
In saying that to avoid anymore animosity i have deleted the details in this.
If anyone wants to find out information they can go to my website, i have only done the title page so far but hopefully should be finished over the weekend.
