Why PI beats out Agenda Fusion...
Thinking of switching from AF to PI, curious if others have, and what they have found or concluded?

Personally, I found PI to be slow and cluttered. AF is quicker and the screen layout is less cluttered.

I've learned to just minimize PI so load times are instantaenous, unless I soft reset.
It may seem a little silly to others but the key feature which sold me on PI was the fact that I could "attach icons" to appointments without having to set categories. It REALLY helps me in the month view (where I spend 90% of my time), cause I can quickly identify things graphically.
I found setting icons on categories to be a hassle since it would result in the same icon for every, say, "Personal" event.. Unless I started breaking into micro-categories.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can attach icons in AF. If you can, please explain how. I'm happy with PI but I wouldn't mind giving AF another trial.

Attaching icons in Agenda Fusion is a breeze. All you need to do is to name the icon to the task, appointment, whatever... then all you need to do is attach a category to the item (task, appointment, whatever).
I used to use PI and I liked it, but to be truthful both PIMs have good and bad points. The one thing I have done and like about Agenda Fusion is that I can filter the categories in each of my views. I do not believe you can do that with PI. What I mean is for my Today View... I only show my personal stuff, the Agenda View shows my girlfriends schedule... (she is a very busy lady and this allows me to know her schedule), my Calendar again belongs to me for personal stuff but like you said in a grap
hical context which lets me easily see what is happening or what is coming up. My Task view I keep for my work, I filter out everything except my work items.
Like I said I do not believe that PI allows you to do that. The last time I tested PI it seemed that the filters applied to all views, I believe this was done to speed up the app. On the flipside I do not like the fact that Agenda Fusion does not keep past tasks on my Today View. And I DO NOT want to have it show on every day, any past and current task that is not completed should show on the current day until completed. That is the one big issue I have with Agenda Fusion in that after the start date the task disappears until it is due. Unless you want it to show on everday... NO I DON'T...
So it is a toss up... neither is perfect... but both are better than Pocket Outlook.
And in both apps you can make your own icons... not a difficult task.

There's an interesting posting over the PI forums addressing this issue. Here. Granted, it's on the PI site, but it does a good job highlighting differences between the two.

I started with PI. Although it appears to offer greater flexability for adjusting the appearance, it wouldn't recognize and store new contacts on my iPAQ ... even after discussions with their Customer Service repeatedly. AF works great and is solid as a rock.

That is a strange one. I have never had any trouble entering data on my PDA. Since I got such a great deal on PI, I have never bothered trying AF. Since I am one of those that don't read the manual unless there is a need, I continually find nice new things out about it.

I did a lot of research a while back and ended up going with PI over AF. I found I liked the interface better and they are so committed to fixing bugs and upgrades that it's constantly better. I haven't used AF recently, so I can't say, but I will say that I'm totally happy with PI. It does SO MUCH--everything I need it to.
To me the real key was to figure out what features I would use most and then figure out which program was better for THOSE features.
I LOVE to use weekview--and quite frankly, I didn't like the way AF showed weeks. You had to scroll to see each day entirely. Whereas PI puts them all up on the screen in a friendly way that I prefer. That was the true back-breaker for me.

Re: Why PI beats out Agenda Fusion...
Have you downloaded a trial version of AF? If not, I would advise you to do so and compare it to PI. If you ask why one would switch from PI<->AF you will get a million different responses. In the end, you still have to try the software and see if it fits your style of usage.Originally posted by gizbug

Ripper, you must have one busy girlfriend to devote and entire Fusion view to her schedule. One thing you can do is just assign all her appointments to a single category and then filter on just that category to see her stuff.Neil Faulkner
