--- DISCLAIMER: I DID THIS PROCEDURE KNOWING THAT I COULD POTENTIALLY DAMAGE MY POCKET PC, IF YOU ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY YOU WILL VOID IT. IF YOU TRY THIS AND DAMAGE YOUR POCKET PC IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT! :P ---

Install the main battery and turn the device over and turn it on by using your stylus on the power button and start the alignment process, then apply small pressure on the digitizer ribbon and try to align again.

This worked for me but if for some reason this procedure didn't helped you please don't blame me ok?!?

TIP: If for some reason your alignment problem comes back as soon as you remove your finger from the ribbon, try some tape or maybe a small piece of foam or something elastic and put it over the ribbon and close the Pocket PC and see if that helped, just be sure not to apply excessive force or you will see some ripples every time you press a button or at worst you can break the screen!.

    USE COMMON SENSE! OK?

I have no idea what that potentiometer is for.
By the way IRONGUY, that was the excact portion of the screen that was causing problems in my case...

Forth day since the repair and still going strong!!!

    Default Excellent!

I think I'm going to buy the new iPaq 2200 or maybe the Dell Axim. Then it will be time for a little surgery! Maybe I'll end up with two functioning PDAs!

    Great job!

I would buy the AXIM if I were you, though the Ipaq's are a bit cooler looking, the accidental damage warranty is unbeatable, not matter what you do(almost), if you buy the accidental damage warranty they'll send you a brand new unit overnight I believe(If you destroy yours on accident). And I dont think there's a limit to how many times you can use it either. Unlike the HP carepaq or whatever, you can only use it for one incident per year, and right now the Dell warranty is over $200 less expensive..... I have a Dell AXIM Advance, and I love it....You would definitly not regret getting one....

Oh and dont let the Dell Support horror stories get to you, I had a very pleasent buying experience........

I wonder what is it for... Any clues?

By the way... I was able to fix the digitizer problem, it was not aligning properly

    Thanks,

UPDATE: I think I know what the potentiometer is for...

When I did the procedure described on the link above I played a bit with the potentiometer but didn't notice any change, but today as I ran out of power at about <25% the screen started to fade and the colors inverted. Then I positioned the Potentiomenter to the original factory position and the screen returned to normal, even at <25% power... weird...

    Default UPDATE 2

The digitizer problem came back a few days ago, so I repeated the procedure, but this time I used a small piece of not-so-dense foam on the location where the digitizer ribbon is so when I closed the Jornada the front beezel press the foam and so far the problem has not come back.

    We'll see...

    Yeah MatthewF01, that's right...

Actually your input gave me the courage to go ahead and play with it... he he he

Only in this case instead of the brightness, it seems to control the voltage or maybe it controlls the LCD inverter that it's present on all LCD screens...

    Best regards...

    Default This was helpful.

    Sergio,

Thanks for the post. I was having similar problems with my Jornada 547. I opened it up and found the digitizer ribbon. (I got this old thing for free so I have openned it up and rigged it many times...all with success) When I saw this post I was able to open the thing up again and fix my problem. My solution to everything is compressed foam out of my kids foam art kit. I apply a couple of pieces on top of of the ribbon and when I close this thing the compression does the trick. Fixed my screen light too that was not functional when I inherited this machine.

    That's great news hezahonker!!!

I'm glad you revived that Jornada!

That means that the procedure works for other models too!!!

    BTW:

What was wrong with the light?

    How did you fixed it?

    Best Regards,
