I had the same problem at home with the Pocket PC name. I just renamed my Pocket PC (under Device ID) and it worked fine. Not sure what the problem is that causes this.
I thought it would cause me problems syncing through Active Sync and it doesn't. I'm not sure if it treats your partnership with the desktop PC as one connection and then when you try to connect wirelessly, it still considers this Partnership a connection and hence, says the device name is in use. I could be way off in my assumption but at least the name change works fine.

Yes, sorry I also had the same name problem. Mine was named: Mikes_iPAQ and I could not map a drive. When I removed the "_" everything was OK. I think the default name is Pocket_PC. If this is what you have, try removing the "_" making it simply PocketPC.

okay
I changed the ID but will have to wait until the unit charges up.
It was at 20% this morning! Guess I played with it TOO LONG yesterday - funny how that battery meter doesn't upgrade immediatley when you turn it on....
As soon as the juice comes back - I'll give it a try and respond back.
Thanks for the continuing help!!!hx4705 (Former h5555,i3650)

I changed mine from POCKET_PC to POCKET_PCA and it worked so I don't think it's a problem with _ or any erroneous characters, it just has to be a different name.

just as I finish posting
the battery was charged... so
I slipped off the dual CF sleeve - slipped on the pcmcia sleeve with the wireless CISCO (that needs LEAP) - logged in and attempted to map a network drive thru NetUse
IT WORKED!!! Changing the device ID did it ( I totally changed the name but did not include any "_" within it)
You guys are awesome!!!!hx4705 (Former h5555,i3650)
