Aol+ppc2002 ?
Is there any practical way of making this work? I've been hoping for a ppc2002 client to become available from AOL, but I think their anti-MS stance may slow such a project. Also have struck out with web-based email approach. ....I know, many of you will immediately suggest the obvious - dump AOL. Believe me I've been tempted. Honestly, a key reason that I keep it is for my address.... HBCOLLINS@aol.com ... have had it so long that using all-caps wasn't considered shouting back then
! Seriously, anyone got a good solution? Thanks in advance...

There is an AOL program for the HP56x series. To get it you have to go the keyword Betapda or pdabeta, I don't remember it exactly. You also might try keyword pdaanywhere. It only works on the HP56X. Seems that HP paid them to port the version for the PocketPC 2000 to the HP but not to any other PocketPC 2k2 model. There was also a beta version that worked on all PocketPC 2000 models but AOL removed it. If you ask around someone may have a copy. DON'T try it on a PocketPC 2k2 it will lock up and prevent all connections from working. Only recovery is a hard reset.

AOL beta program for J56X was terminated yesterday. I've been using the beta since it became available. It generally works at least as well as any other ISP. Let's hope that they release it to production (unlike the 2000 version, which beta testers are still using with no problem, but which was never released to production). The version for PPC2002 is considerably smaller at 866 kb than the PPC2000 version at 4+ MB, so maybe they'll convince themselves they got it right this time. Judging from messages on the AOL Anywhere Beta site, most (or all) testers did get it to work.
