Category Display in Contacts
Alex,
Contact's categories are displayed in green. Unfortunately I, like 80% of the male population of the world, suffer from blue/green color blindness, fortunately not seriously, but sufficient to make it very very difficult to see the name of the categories associated with a contact.
Is it possible to change the color of the displayed categories from green to another color? I have looked at the color tab in the options menu but can see nowhere to change this color.
However, if you link two contacts and then using links to view the details of the linked contact the category display in the linked contact is a nice clear blue. Can blue be used for the display of categories in all cases??
Also, in the Options Color tab, Color Preferences there is a color preference option that says 'Contacts Line Color (if on)' Where or how do you turn this on, or off?? I have looked in the Unsupported Options but can see nothing there.
Thanks
David G

Good point - I find green hard to read as well, but for some reason it never dawned on me in that area...
The line color ON is in the Unsupported or Miscelleneous tab.Innovation in Personal and Business Information Management.

BTW - just FYI - sometimes I'm not getting the email from Brighthand that an update occurred on this thread. So I may come and answer only when I'm going around reading other unrelated threads.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Linking Contacts
Alex, the problem that I am experiencing is in Contact View.Originally posted by alex_kac
Yes, - that's what I mean - the icon should show up immediately - well, depending on what view. In TV - should be immediate.
Many thanks for your very prompt responses.
Release 3.011 has made the initial pain of rel 3.0 all worthwhile. If I reload the PIResource.dll to give the single list of categories again rather than have them 'truncated' will this change the Tools menu that was included in 3.011??
Response times on searches (albeit on only 600-700 contacts) is lightening fast and now I am used to the new UI I find it easy to use.
Thanks

I'll have to redo the resources to match 3.011's nicer Tools menu. Probably when we release the French resource this week as well.

Fatal Errors
I've got a number of fatal errors popping up in PI 3.01.
When I go to week view I get
"CalendarView (0x004e)
terminated abnormally by
an exception"
When I got to task view and try to tap and open a task
"TasksView (0x004e)
terminated abnormally by
an exception"
When I got to Contacts and try to open a contact
"ContactsView (0x004e)
terminated abnormally by
an exception"
I've tried soft resest. Un-install, re-install. Upgrade to 3.011.
Any ideas ?

Re: Fatal Errors
Can't say that I've ever heard that happening - not to all views. Do me a favor - first, when uninstalling or reinstalling - remove all prefs.
The fact that it happens in all views tells me that something either isn't getting written correctly in the install of files, you have a pimstore.dll that is not the one in ROM, or something else serious is going on other than PI.
Are you using any of the other PIResource.DLLs? One other thing to look at is after an unisntall, go through the \WINDOWS directory to make sure all the files were really deleted and gone. First make sure you see some .DLL files - if so, look for PI*.DLL files and delete them. Also look for a WebISToolsDLL. Delete that. Make sure you do NOT have 2.6 installed. Then install 3.01.

Alex
After playing with icons and changing the colors of some categories, the program completely took a dump. I couldn't get into anything. The only solution I had was to uninstall, remove all preferences and reinstall. Now it works fine but there seems to be something wrong there.

Could it have been an icon? I will say that there is something in the OS function GetObject() that we use to determine a bitmap's size once loaded (so we can draw it correctly) that can cause it to crash on some bitmaps. We tried to isolate it in 3.01, but it can still cause an issue. I know its GetObject() as when we take that function out and just assume sizes, some of the bitmaps we tested with worked fine.
So if you do continue to have that issue - take ot the icons and see if that helps.Innovation in Personal and Business Information Management.

Floating Todos has been on our list for a while. Honestly, I've not come up with a good way to do it under the current system, so it hasn't been done. And we've had higher priorities. But it is on the list
I also vote for the floating todos. I need to replace my contact lenses every 2 weeks, but this time is often extended if I don't wear them every day. If I had a way of automatically generating the next todo when I completed the current task, this would meet my needs.
Keep up the great work. Love the product... it gets 75% of my Pocket PC use and is always my first recomendation to friends when I here they are buying a Pocket PC.
