QMail + GMail SSL error FIXED
I'm writing this to help out the others on this forum who, like me, were having the SSL error when trying to set up a GMail account. After searching and searching I finally found the solution, and I will try and summarize it here.
I used the Daily Snapshot release of QMail and the .98 version of the OpenSSL binaries. Then I followed Paul Trafford's instructions from the voy forums (his thread here )
Basically what you have to do is download this zip file: Thawte SSL roots
Open up the zip, extract the file "ThawteServerCA.txt"
Rename it to ca.pem and then transfer it to your handheld in QMail's Mail\Security folder.
When setting up your account in QMail, use the settings that were previously discussed here. Namely, port 995, SSL for incoming, and port 587, STARTTLS for outgoing.
Also, make sure your username on the User tab includes the @gmail.com at the end for both incoming and outgoing.
That's all there is to it! Good luck!

Hooray! Changing the Authentication Method from STARTTLS to SSL works like a charm. My Gmail and other IMAP account is working fine. Now I just have to customize my macros and scripts and it'll be perfect.
I didn't even think of getting NNTP on my Pocket PC, but now that I know it's possible, I've got to try. I've been looking for a PPC RSS reader as well, but I guess this is all I need. Thanks for the help, guys.
edit: When getting mail from Gmail, do you have a macro or script set up to move the mail that you've sent to another folder? I guess you would look for emails that have "From: <yourself@gmail.com>" and then move those to another folder than you specify?

Hi all,
I wanted to let you know that I reported a problem to the developer last night. I was trying to add an RSS feed into QMail and kept getting Parsing Errors. Turned out QMail didn't support RSS 0.92.
However, the developer posted back and quickly added it so there is a new nightly build that contains it if anyone else has this problem. If you want to follow Lakeridge Software's RSS feed you had better download this nightly build for sure!
EDIT: Communication gaps here with Japense. I did not see any update given to the snapshot version because it appears to have the same version number. However, when the developer responded to my post he had indicated that the version number had changed. When I went to the website to download there is still no new version. I assumed that then he had included the RSS changes in the snapshot, but in the nightly build instead. I downloaded the nightly build, and I see no RSS changes in it at all. Not sure if he included them on the Snapshot edition or not. Unfortunately my sync port came completely out of my x30 and dell won't replace it, so it is off to pocket pc techs for now. If someone gets a chance and can tell us if the Snapshot edition has the RSS update it, would be greatly appreciated. I will ask the developer where he placed it or if he was just indicating that he has added it to his list for the next version.
He specifcally said to me "I have added this support" so I would think that means now, but what do I know.
Cheers,
Hezahonker

I tried the above, and I still receive the message:
[eMail]POP3 error. (0x000c0000) Failed to initialize SSL.
I use PPC 2002.
When I installed QMail I did the following:
(1) I created a folder on my Storage Card called \QMail.
(2) I copied the contents of the Nightly Download zipped file:
q2u-ppc2002-arm-ja-2_9_16 into the \QMail folder. It includes the q3u.exe program, and nine .dll files.
(3) I copied the contents of openssl-wince-arm-0.9.7g to my \QMail folder. It included two .dll files
(4) based on your instructions above, I created \Mail\security folder within my QMail folder, and copied the ca.pem file to it.
I have all the QMail account settings for GMail, exactly as described in your post Incoming (995 - SSL) Outgoing (587 - STARTTLS) and all appopriate email addresses, passwords, etc.
Even with all the above, whenever I execute QMail, I get the Failed to initialize SSL message.
I tried moving the \security folder to immediately below the \QMail folder, and still get the same error.
I tried renaming the \QMail folder to \Mail, and still get the same error.
ANY ADVICE ????
I feel as if I am the only one who cant get GMail to work on my PPC.
Thanks in advance !!!

I finally got QMail to work (sort of) !!!
Using the Microsoft AddRootCert.exe program from this website:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;322956 , I added all the root certificates to my PPC that begin with "Thawte", and I no longer get the SSL error !!!
I successfully used QMail to send a message, and it worked !!! I still haven't got it to receive email yet from my GMail account yet, but I feel I'm getting closer.
UPDATE: huangchenmin at http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/...soft=1344#9820
stated that the one and only certificate you have to add to root is "Thawte server CA".
Also, I am now able to both Send and Receive mail using my GMail account. So no more QMail issues !!!

Hi all!
I am a new member at this forum and just installed my QMail! It is a fantastic email program!
Well, i am a quite newbie of this program, but i have managed to get all 5 accounts working with all sending/receiving ok.
I have checked out in this thread and other about synchronizing my HP6515 w/Qmail and Outlook (Office 2003) on my PC, but no luck.
There were no way of syncing all 5 accounts in the Pocket version of the Outlook, and i was hoping that this program could help me with this??
So, can Qmail be synced with my Outlook PC? I sure hope so.
I do have 5 accounts, but with just one personal folder tree on my PC, i am just making rules and sending each email to the corresponding folder in the tree.
It would be nice if anyone could make me a list of what to do...
Thanks for all help!
(and sorry for the newb ques)
Greetings from Norway!

This program doesn't work with outlook on the pc. Sorry. This program is strictly for web-based email.

Can't recall if this worked or not, but have you tried using the cntrl button on your keyboard and then selecting items?
Do you mean the folders or messages?
