    Question Screen tap ?

Does anyone know whether the dull screen tap sound in PPC is a .wav file ?

If so, how is it named under the Windows directory ? Intend to replace it with a 'sharper' one ...

    TIA

I can't say for a fact but from looking at my Pocket PC, I think you're right. The only problem is figuring out which wav file refers to which system event. Once you've copied the new wav file over, it would just be a matter of resetting and you should be good to go.

    Question

You mean you can actually stand to have screen taps make noises?

The absolute first thing I do with a new PDA after the welcome stuff is finished is to go into settings to turn off the screen tap noises and the menu selection noises. It practically drives me crazy for the few seconds it takes to go in and get it shut off.

    Wink COnsider this ..

    Hi,

Enabled screen tap (loud) 'cos it serves as a confirmation of sorts for me

Replacing the dull sound with a laser.wav file would be great !

It may be good for you but consider others who may be around you that have to listen to that (if you are in a public setting when you use your PDA).

    ha ha  !

More likely, they will be impressed with that sharp laser sound that i have in mind.

If not, i can just 'mute' system sounds with one tap

    Talking I worry about that guy . . .

One of my friends has a Jornada 548 and has a "female" sound scheme of sorts. I will ask him tomorrow how he set it up. If it was a installed thing, or did he do it manually. I don't know if since the 548 is PPC 3.0, whether the set-up might be any different. I will report back.

After checking the registry and all the .WAVs in the windows dir, it seems that the screen tap is hard coded into the OS....... Sorry.
