    Default Contact List Question --> Multiple Categories

    Hi,

    I recently converted from Palm OS to PPC. I had many different categories for my contact lists like:

    * Business
    * Family
    * Friends

    When I synced my palm to outlook, the multiple categories transferred, however, they did NOT appear in the "contacts" folder in outlook, rather, they created a new separate folder called "business", "family", etc.

    When I did a sync between desktop and ipaq, the new separate folders did not transfer over (or at least I cannot find it on the handheld) and nothing appears in the contacts folder (in the address book).

    I know the sync is working because I do have my entire calendar transferred over. Now, however, I need to figure out the contacts issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Yeah, as far as I know, only the contacts which are actually in your contacts folder will sync.

    What I would do is this: While your contacts are still in the separate folders, verify that they have the category attribute by just opening a few and checking. If they have the category still set as you want them, then just drag them to the 'Contacts' folder. Otherwise, it will be easier to set that attribute while they are separated into their separate folders.

    Hope that helps.

    If you open the contact into its own little window, you'll see two little fields down at the bottom. One is called Contacts (I guess to associate this contact with another.) and the other is called Categories. This is the one you are hoping has your old category data still in it.

    If I do that, then my contacts won't be sorted correctly on the Palm side (I sync a visor, ipaq, and yahoo at the same time). Is there *ANY* other way?

    Is there a way to sync different outlook folders? I heard it isn't possible, but can you do it via 3rd party software?

    Try Intellisync from PumaSoft. I think it will do what you want, but it's expensive ($70.00 or so).
