    Hi Dashboard-Lovers !!

Inspired by Dakkards great skins I decided to modify them a bit to match my needs even more.
I personally really need as much space on my Dashboard as possible and therefore modified his great skins to show even more than before.
Now the skins look more plain and simple but are more functional in return.

Unfortunately I can't post any screenshots so if you like it maybe one of you can do that for me.

    Take it easy!

    Default Second skin

    Here's my second modified skin.
Couldn't attach both of them at the same time.

    Default Sorry...

    Hey Dak,
I really didn't want to offend you by modifying your stuff without asking.
I just had the spontaneous urge to do something and completely forgot about asking you before.
Besides...there are so many modified skins out there without anyone ever asking the originla author.
I at least said so and gave you the props for your work which I really like.
But next time I'll ask you before modding.

    Take it easy,

I agree. However, Dakkard's point is valid. We should all ask permission before modifying and publicly posting someone else's work. Kudos to Playa for acknowledging that the skins were originally created by Dakkard. Some people don't even provide that courtesy. If you modify a work for personal use, you don't need to tell the author but if you widely disseminate that modifed work, it borders on copyright infringement. Anyway, like Doreen said, glad to see it resolved amicably and now BACK TO SKINNING all.

The thing that really get me is........

.........OH F@:k somebodies playing with my freaking art work how dare they......

    Then after a few seconds:

.............Hmmmm Why didn't I do that?

    Then another few seconds past:

.............OOOH I wonder if I could work with them.........To make my skins look good...........and then TAKE OVER THE WORLD WOO HA HA HAAAAAA!

ok maybe not, I don't mind people creating updates when they ask permission, We original skinners should have the right to say NO.

Playa and I have worked this out (i hope, playa I'm I nice guy really) and hope to work together later then think about ruling the world.

At the mo Terry helps me time to time, she gives me a starting idea and off I go and attempt to skin.

should us skinners really have to stamp copyright notes on the readme's or is that simply OTT!?

    well here's the deal...

The #1 no no in skinning is do not steal someone elses work, which is called an outright rip when someone takes your skin and just post it somewhere after changing your readme file with their name in place or yours...
Cold & Hard with no guilt and when approaching them they tell you basically "too bad" I knew what I did and you can go fly a kite!

    Those piss me off...

now remember Dak when you first came into skinning and Frogboy approached you with a slight warning and you had no idea of the ins and outs of skinning yet or what he was even talking about?

remember how you almost quit! =(

I hate to see the newbies get SCREAMED at when they are new and basically don't know the rules yet cuz it discourages them to the point of almost quitting!
when all they need is a polite warning and some information, but if they have a bad attitude and no regards for the original artist, well of course that is a different story!

my thing is most ppl when they first begin to skin, NEED alittle help some just need help with their graphic programs some "need" to ask permission and use other skinners parts of skins to actually see how to assemble a skin for themselves until they learn their graphic program enough to start from the ground up such as you have now Dak! =)

I still have to search ppl out to use their graphics to make some of my skinz cuz I never got that good,
(my time is limited w/ the other things I do while I'm skinning at the same time).

Not every skinner will be a Neil, Treetog, Dangeruss but we can all have fun and share our work...

main thing to remember is ASK permission and GIVE credit to the original artist when you make a Frankenstein skin! hehe
