Help with Pretec Modem

I have a Pretec modem that I have used with three different Windows CE device with no problems. I am now using a laptop at work and needed a modem as there were none left around the office. I bought a Memorex PC card adapter to take care of it. It says it works with type one cards and it works fine with both of my memory cards, but it won't work with the Pretec modem in either laptop I have access to. I have downloaded the Windows 9x driver from Pretec, but that didn't help! What is the deal here? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure. I have used my Pretec modem with a Sansdisk adapter in my Macintosh PowerBook. It did not require any drivers. I works great. I just had to select correct modem.
Is Windows recognizing that it is inserted, Plug-N-Play? I would think at worst it would ask for a driver.

Yes, Windows does recognize it. 95 and 98 both want to load generic drivers. I downloaded pretec's driver, but it still won't work.
