Default Going from Treo 600 to Clie UX50....a little help?

Okay. The first thing I did was to buy Missing Sync, but then I chose a new HotSync name for the UX50 called "Clie." I then did a HotSync, added a few programs for the UX50, and everything works great. Except that I realized that all my PIM information is under my other HotSync name, and all the third party software I bought is licensed to that HotSync name as well.

I'm not going to HotSync both devices....can I just delete the new HotSync name on the Clie and begin again by syncing it the old HotSync name? Will all programs and preferences be transferred to the UX50 if I set all the conduits to overwrite the handheld?

    TIA

Thanks! That certainly helps with the PIM data copying. But again, all the third party software (several hundred dollars worth) would have to be repurchased, or I would have to contact each and every vendor to get an updated license based on my new HotSync name, if they even provided that service.

I had no problems with the software on my Treo.....everything worked flawlessly since I got it in 12/03. Also, both PDAs use 5.2, so everything that worked on the Treo should for the most part work on the UX50, excepting any hardware button issues.

Any thoughts on what would happen if I changed the new HotSync ID to match the old one and just did a HotSync where the desktop overwrites the handheld?

Rename your old user name / backup files, and then change the Clie to the old name. You can get back to your old name, but simply doing a straight restore tends to be disastrous. Keep in mind that Sony made some significant changes to the Palm OS on some models, that Clies were never officially "Mac-compatible," and that they are presumably now irreplaceable.

Thanks! I wish I had thought of that.....I tried doing a straight HotSync, and it was a disaster, as you could imagine. I ended up having to to a hard reset, but it wasn't costly, as I had already done a HotSync under the "Clie" ID. So then I just began emailing all the vendors and getting new licenses. I'm not going to try to keep my old ID on the UX50.
