HotSync has trouble with multiple processors
I just got a new machine at work, a HP Compaq dc7600. To my pleasant surprise, it has two CPUs. But, it turns out some software can't handle having their code threaded over more than one CPU. HotSync v4.0.1 is one of those applications. And, what's worse, sometimes it would work just fine, while other times, it would force a restart of my machine. Very irritating.
So Googled the problem. I found a web page that says that if you have two CPUs, HotSync does not always work. The fix is described here:
http://www.computing.net/pda/wwwboard/forum/1844.html
It's been working for me so far. The directions at the above URL show you how to force HotSync to use CPU 1. If you want to use another CPU, replace "0x1" with "0x2" for CPU 2, and so on.
Hope this helps.
