Are the Palm Pilot Professional and Palm Pilot III Hotsync cables/cradles compatible with eachother. Please help

Hello umboody.

Yes, the PalmPilot Professional and the Palm III series (and the VII series for that matter) have compatible cradles. The Palm IIIc is the only handheld in the III line to use a rechargable battery. If you try using any other Palm in a IIIc cradle, make sure that the AC adaptor is unplugged before you seat the handheld in the cradle.

Have you tried this? I emailed PalmOne with the same question and they said no. Very weird!

I will disagree with AlanG. The Palmpilot Professional handheld I have does not fit into the Hotsync cradle for the Palm IIIe I still have.

I am using a Palm III series serial HotSync cable to connect my PalmPilot Professional with my Windows XP workstation.

I guess there is enough of a difference in the cradles to not seat properly. The physical gold finger connection does seem to match up.
