Re: A few software reviews...
I use it too, but there is no full version yet.
May be you mean NinerPaint (by the same developer) which is a totally different application.Last edited by holvoetn; 11-30-2007 at 03:27 AM.

Re: A few software reviews...
I see what you mean Haisook. I was referring to the options menu which mentions
Ninerjot vs Ninerpad.
It looks like Ninerpad does not yet exist
But I have got a trial of Ninerpaint to give it a whirl, and it looks good.
JRakes, it is hard to imagine Nine drawing anything on his T5, as he is so busy posting here

BackupBuddyVFS Free /w automated scheduler instructions
Disclaimer: This product is no longer supported by the developer, as such, if you have problems with it, you will not receive any help from them. Ensure that you have a functioning backup of your important data before attempting this. HOTSYNC FIRST, to back up your PIM DATA! I can't fix or replace what you've lost, if you don't do this, and it fails on your device.
You can obtain BBVFS Free (freeware, most recent version on freewarepalm is 2.01, the one linked to here, is version 2.10) here: http://rumkin.com/software/palm/backup/bbvfsfree.zip

You will also need 2PlayMe by MetaViewSoft (commercial software, unregistered has limit of one scheduled event, no time limit): http://www.metaviewsoft.de/en/Softwa...yMe/index.htmlNote regarding BackupBuddyVFS:Free
BackupBuddyVFS:Free is the free, limited version of BackupBuddyVFS.
BackupBuddyVFS:Free enables you to back up all or your organizer?s files to and
restore all of your backup data from your organizer?s expansion card. With the free
version, you are not able to perform incremental backups or select individual files for
back up or restore, schedule automatic back ups or perform the other advanced
features described in this manual.

Install both applications to RAM.
Launch BBVFS Free once, and have it install itself to your SD card. Exit BBVFS after doing so.
Launch 2PlayMe and do the following:
New > What:Applications > select Backup > Enqueue ButtonPress > ID: 1901
See the Test It button below? Tap that, and BBVFS should launch, and within a few seconds, it should start backing up your handheld. After it completes, return to 2PlayMe, and edit this event, and adjust your schedule as you see fit.
To ensure that your handheld is being correctly backed up, you should attempt a restore from your backup as well. Hard reset your device > after starting it up again, navigate to your SD card from the Palm Launcher, and run Backup (BBVFS Free is called Backup in the launcher).

Tap the restore button. After following the directions, and resetting your device, you should be good to go.
A bit complicated to set up, but worth the effort. 2 thumbs up for this freebie. BBFVS requires OS 3.5 and greater, and uses ~100KB RAM. 2PlayMe requires OS 4.1 and greater, and uses ~125KB RAM. Supports 160x160, 320x320, and 320x480 resolutions. BBVFS Free works on 2bit B/W to 16bit full color. 2PlayMe works on 4bit greyscale to 16bit full color.
Enjoy!
PS: Please note - BBVFS Free is an older, unsupported product. Should you want more functionality, please visit http://www.bluenomad.com/ You can find newer versions, with advanced backup and restore settings, scheduled backups, compression, encryption, and more.
PPS: 2PlayMe is a commercial product. If you appreciate the software, and would consider using it for many more alarms, system events, clock, etc, please consider making a purchase of this software at http://www.metaviewsoft.de.
I'm sure that both software developers would love to have you as their customer.

Re: A few software reviews...
Good review HC. I had trouble with the commercial version and NVFS devices (it worked perfect on the T3). I wonder if this version will work with an NVFS device? Its hard to "test" a backup because it forces you to do a hard reset -- I know.

Re: A few software reviews...
Which version were you having problems with? 3.x, 2.15? I've still got 2.15 running on my TE. I can't speak for any NVFS devices, as I've never touched one... The similarities between this freebie and 2.15 are almost impossible to point out. Just missing the obvious advanced mode, scheduler, etc. The program runs just the same...

Re: A few software reviews...
I had the most up to date commercial ware up until I had two or three hard resets due to testing software the BackUpBuddy could not restore my handheld. Now I am NVBackup user.
I just wanted to give a possible warning for NVFS users. Again, BackUpBuddy was wonderful when I had my T3.Handheld devices: Palm IIIxe, Sony SL10, Sony SJ30, Palm T|T, Palm T3, Palm T5, Palm TX, Treo 755p, Palm Pre, HTC EVO

Re: A few software reviews...
BBVFS versions in the 3.x range were a complete mess. Not only did they perform poorly on NVFS, they caused data corruption with encryption, and hardly worked on OS 4.x, even though 4.x was supported. I do believe they are in version 4.x now. Things appear to be worked out, and functional again.
