Question Trouble with HotSync and TrueSync (trying to sync Yahoo, Palm Desktop and Palm m505)

I was an avid user of the My.Palm site to sync my calendar 3 ways (on the web, on my Palm Desktop, and on my Palm handheld). Since My.Palm is going away... I am looking for an alternative.... I am trying to use Yahoo.calendar instead. To do so requires another sync program (either IntelliSync or TrueSync). I have TrueSync working to sync ONLY my Yahoo site and my Palm Desktop... it works fine. However, I now get an error when I try to use HotSync to sync my Palm Desktop and my Palm Handhelp (m505). I realize that I could use TrueSync to sync all 3, but I am a heavy use of the 'File Link' feature in HotSync (I use it to auto load my company name & address book). I don't believe TrueSync offers a comparable feature to 'File Link.' Thus, my current approach of TrueSync for PC to/from Yahoo and HotSync for PC to/from Handheld.

Any suggestions on how to solve this? Do TrueSync and HotSync interfere with each other? Is there a way to make them co-exist? Is there another (better?) solution to a web-based calendar that integrates well with Palm Desktop and Palm m505?

    Thanks for the help.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help, but I can say for sure that TrueSync and HotSync do *not* get along. Once TrueSync is installed, it puts files on your Palm that prevents HotSync from working correctly (if I recall correctly, contacts and appointments refuse to sync via HotSync). You have to remove several files manually from the Palm (I'm afraid I don't remember the names) in order to get synching back.

I'd avoid TrueSync if at all possible, especially if you need HotSync.

My alternative to a web-based calendar is to put Palm Desktop on a machine running a VNC server -- that way I can access it from any platform with a VNC client. You can find out more about VNC here .
