Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software
I'm very happy I upgraded my Axim X51v/cell combo. The X7501 has taken over both jobs nicely, though my primary use is a PDA with a phone secondary. On Garmin's web site, there is the following note:
Which indicates that there *might* be a possibility that Garmin may support built-in GPS receivers at some point. Lets just hope...- This update does not add support for built-in GPS receivers.
You can look in the HTC Advantage forums here, over at www.x7501.com and at www.xda-developers.comNot sure which forum I should look at to see your comments\review of your experiences with the 7501????

Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software
Garmin already supports Mobile XT on a few Dopod PDA-Phones with built-in GPSr. See links in posts #14 and #17 of the thread below for some pictures.
Does Garmin Mobile XT work with non-Garmin GPS receiver?

Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software
Yeah, I've seen that thread before. And I got to talk to Garmin today. The support guy really didn't have any info about upcoming software updates, but did indicate that Garmin has "relationships" with some mobile device makers and carriers. Sprint is one example here in the U.S., and I suspect Dopod is one outside the states. So that would explain the above thread you reference.
I explained to him the problems I was experiencing with having to use a Bluetooth GPS receiver along with GMXT - the incompatibility with MS Voice Command v1.6, and the problem of audio playback when using Bluetooth stereo audio output at the same time as running GMXT. He indicated he would pass along these issues to the development team, so we'll just have to wait and see...

Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software
Here is another PDA phone + builit-in GPSr, namely Gigabyte GSmart i300, supported by a specialized GMXT Taiwan version.

Note: you may need to install traditional Chinese language support to view.

Garmin's Mobile XT software now support built-in GPS on smartphones
News release:
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...4674895&EDATE=
"Garmin Mobile XT is preloaded on a microSD card (with miniSD and
standard SD card converter) that includes Garmin navigation software for
the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, or Europe. Once the card is

Another thing I saw. On Garmin's site where you select your GPS phone:
https://buy.garmin.com/gmbg/start.faces
None of the PocketPCs in the list have a GPS?
At least none that I've been able to find.

Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software now support built-in GPS on smartphones
Well, I just got off the phone with Garmin support regarding this. And to no surprise, they weren't even aware it was available yet. I pointed him to the Garmin site where you can select your phone with built-in GPS. He then did some research and gave me more info. The GMXT software and maps will be locked to the SD card, not allowing you to copy GMXT to main memory, or use other maps. So this really doesn't help me at all, as I need to use my memory card with other things on it. And I wouldn't be able to use Mapsource to combine different mapsets. Oh well, close but no cigar...

Re: Garmin's Mobile XT software
If you read previous post I wrote. This anouncement is what I expected.
This version is SD Card ID Lock. The package will have two unlock key files, namely SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL. You will need these two files and the Card, else it won't work.
I am sure it will also run on most PPC with build in GPS. After you install the software. On the first page you will see the GPS signal straength (top left conner). Click there, it will lead you to the page that ask you whether you want to use external or build in GPS. As for external GPS, you can use normal NEAMA GPS.
