Could you be a little more specific about how to "open it up and take it out"? I have just purchased a second ique 3600 for backup purposes only. I am wanting to know how to put into long term storage. Should I run the battery down to 40%, disconnect it and store it in the frig. Can I leave it connected in the ique and put the ique in the frig. Or can you tell me how to disconnect the anode?

ps. got new[referb] IQue3600 for $225 and free upgrade to v8 maps........good deal!!

TheBatteryBuff must be laughing his anode off by now.

Cutting your battery open to remove the anode to preserve the battery is like telling you that since you only need one kidney, you should cut one of yours out and stick it in the freezer to make it last longer in case you should need it later.

Personally, I'm going to take all the peanut chunks out of my chunky peanut butter and reassemble them into whole peanuts now...

Ok, Q-Eye, Maybe he got me on removing the anode thing, how was I to know. I am quite serious about how to put my second backup ique into long storage for the day when I need it. I have come to depend on it in my work and even being without it while getting an RMA wound cause me serious financial harm. Any ideas ??????

The suggestion to do this has always confused me. It seems to me that if you store it at anything above 40% it will get down to 40% at some point and then you have it where it should be ideally (if, in fact, that is the magical number that produces the longest storage time with the least battery damage).

Thumbs up Re: 1800mah iQue Battery with Plug & Tools

Battery arrived today here in the UK. Picked it up when I got in from work.

Backed it up, took it apart, installed battery, reassembled it, took it apart again (forgot to put screws in for mobo), put together, restored backup, powered up and all worked. Now fully charged and in use again.

    Thanks Paul a great service.

At a 100% charge level, a typical Li-ion laptop battery that's full most of the time at 25 degrees Celsius, will irreversibly lose approximately 20% capacity per year. This capacity loss begins from the time it was manufactured, and occurs even when the battery is unused. Different storage temperatures produce different loss results: 6% loss at 0 °C, 20% at 25 °C, and 35% at 40 °C. When stored at 40% charge level, these figures are reduced to 2%, 4%, 15% at 0, 25 and 40 degrees Celsius respectively.

    Thanks Paul,
My 3600 is rocking again! I can't even measure the improvement (as it would die within 20 seconds of removing it from the car cradle). After a full charge it went over 3.5 hours with full screen brightness, GPS on with WAAS, etc.

With this and the new 2Gb 150x card I got for $34 that holds all the US (v5 ) I'm now good to go! (no, I wasn't brave enough to try the fat32 hack and a 4 or 8G card)

    Thanks again,
    super<with anode securely in place>shadow
