I don't know the whether the spring is metal or not, but would a magnetic pick-up tool help? I'm referring to a flexible 2' pole with a strong magnetic tip; it's available in any auto parts shop.

I've just sent my order, Paul, but I was wondering - can I hold onto the battery for awhile before installing? The battery in Betty now seems fine - but this one will last longer between charges, right? As it is Betty sits in her cradle at work, and in the cradle in the car, so battery time is only a problem when I'm at our home up in Maine, no cradle up there. Anyhoo, thanx!

Oneof the neatest magnetic tools I've found for picking up things, covering a wide area, is a "steel" used for sharpening knives. It's magnetic. Hold it parallel to the floor, and sweep across the floor. Mine is about 15 inches long, so it doesn't take long.

At a 100% charge level, a typical Li-ion battery that's full most of the time at 25 degrees Celsius, will irreversibly lose approximately 20% capacity per year. This capacity loss begins from the time it was manufactured, and occurs even when the battery is unused. Different storage temperatures produce different loss results: 6% loss at 0 °C, 20% at 25 °C, and 35% at 40 °C. When stored at 40% charge level, these figures are reduced to 2%, 4%, 15% at 0, 25 and 40 degrees Celsius respectively.

Bottom line... store it in the fridge (not freezer).

Best thing to do is taking off the anode, since it's the anode that ionises too much by the neutron activity due to charging. Before use just put the anode in place, and your battery is 100% - always.

Definitely longer use between charges. Having the unit on charge does not necessarily mean that the battery is charging. Once the battery is full, the circuit board that is built into the battery stops the charge. I also noticed less chances of hard resets, but not 100% sure that is from the bigger battery. It does sort of make sense it is from the increased mah battery, due to a longer discharge time, then finding Betty and charging her before she goes completely dead.

I have no idea what you are talking about. What is the anode?
