VersaMail/Mac/QueueSync help
Hello all,
I'm using VersaMail 2.0 that came with my TT's "Software Essentials" CD. I've installed QueueSoft's QueueSync (version 1.54) on in my PalmDesktop 4.0 "Conduits" folder. I've set the conduit to "Synchronize". I've also selected "Handheld Outbox to Drafts" option in the conduit. Next, I selected "VersaMail" in the conduit's Mail program drop-down list. So, everything seems OK, right?
Next, when I hotsync, only my Mac's outbox comes over into Palm's outbox BUT, the messages I create in VersaMail that are placed in the VersaMail outbox DO NOT come over at all into the Drafts folder in Entourage. What went wrong? Have I missed a step or few?
Please help.

I moved this to the Mac forum so that other Mac users might notice it more easily.
I just tried this myself, and my outgoing mail also did not end up in the Drafts folder. I will dig into it more, and if you get any farther please let me know!

EDIT: If you don't set the option to put the Outbox mail in the Drafts folder, it will actually appear in the outbox properly. The way it seems to function, Entourage assumes that a script of some sort is causing that email to be sent. By default Entourage pops up a message saying that a virus could be doing that, and are you sure you want that message to send. If you make sure not to select the option to automatically send every time you would then be able to allow sending or not sending if you wish. Of course if you do check that box the email you create on your Palm will be mailed off automatically which could be mighty convenient as well, but less safe when you consider email viruses/worms

I must be missing something or not doing something EXACTLY. I've gone through your steps three times already. I'm not mad at you. I'm just EXTREMELY CONFUSED even after I've gone through your steps as best as I understand them. Also, by trying to follow my successful steps I've had with my m515, PalmDesktop 2.6.3 and Palm's native mail app on the 515, it would seem I'm going through the right steps for this new scenario but, no go. So, this only adds to my frustration and confusion.
So, please elaborate in plainer language. I understang VAGUELY what you're saying but please elaborate in a step-by-step language--for starters, what EXACTLY am I supposed to set in my QueueSynch conduit to achieve what you are explaining? Next, where in VersaMail do I file my mail to achieve what you are explaining?
Thanks again so please elaborate in plainer, more step-by-step language.

Hello gulmatan,
I will certainly try to break it down more. Sometimes I get in a hurry and babble through things.
I have attached an image of what the QueueSync dialog looks like on my machine. Sorry the color scheme is a little wacky, it is a glitch with the screen capture program I use.
First in QueueSync:
- Make sure the Mail check box is checked
- Make sure that the conduit is set to Synchronize
- Make sure that the 'Handheld Outbox to Drafts' option is not checked
- After doing all that set anything else you desire (i.e. if you want to use Queuesync to sync your Address Book, check that box)
- Click the 'Make Defaults' button
- Click OK
Now in Versamail:
- Click on the menu button
- Go to the Options menu and select 'Mail Servers'
- Select the Account you want your Entourage email to sync with on the Palm
- Check the Box labeled 'Always connect using:'
- In the pop up list next to 'Service' choose Synchronize Only
- Click OK
Now create a new message in Versamail. When it is finished click the Outbox button on the bottom of the screen.
Make sure Entourage is running
Hotsync the Palm
When Hotsync is finished, go into Entourage. If all goes well there will be a new message in the Outbox. Since it is there Entourage will try to send it.
If Entourage hasn't been told otherwise it will pop up a message saying a script is trying to send an email. You can tell it to cancel or send the message. On that dialog box will be a check mark that says something like 'Don't ask me this again.'
If you leave that unchecked than every time you hotsync and have email in the Versamail Outbox, that email will be transferred to the Entourage Outbox, and that message will appear asking if you want to send the message(s) or cancel.
If you check that box, and click 'Send' then every time you hotsync with a message in the Versamail Outbox, it will be transferred to the Entourage Outbox, and automatically sent out as email.
Let me know if this is still not working, or if you need more directions. I'm glad to help however I can.

Okay, I just figured out something else also:
If you uncheck the box labeled 'Only Hotsync Inbox of Mac'
And you check the box for 'Handheld Outbox to Drafts'
And follow all the other directions above, the mail you send by clicking on the Outbox button in Versamail will now appear in the Drafts folder in Entourage.
You will not get the messages asking whether you want to send the messages or cancel.
You can then open the messages in Entourage and send them on their way.

I must be missing something. I went through every step--TO THE LETTER. Where it messes up is in the HotSync. After I created my test message, I clicket the "Outbox" button like you said. Did the HotSync but NOTHING!!! Does the problem have anything to do with the fact that I'm on an AT&T account and I'm accessing it through a cable modem connection? Do I need a special AT&T prc file for VersaMail? What am I doing wrong? I AM STUMPED!!!!
Please help!
Matt A.
**ADDENDUM**
Happy to say, at long last and with much striving, I GOT IT TO WORK!!!
Coupled with exchanging notes with QueuSync's developed and a new updated version of the conduit, I got the Entourage/VersaMail/Tungsten connection up and running.
I AM A HAPPY CAMPER NOW!!!!
