Question How do I replace the internal battery on a Palm Pilot Professional ?

    Hi All!,

The batteries went flat on my pilot and when I switched on all the information was lost - I suspect that the small internal battery is flat.

Can anyone tell me what type of battery and voltage and is it easy to replace ??

    Thanks for any help

    Mark

There is no battery - a capacitor is used to keep the info during a battery change. The capacitor could have gone bad. You can either change the batteries one at a time (which may or may not work), send it to a repair shop like PalmMedic, or do an Internet search to find the part number and try to fix it yourself.

Many thanks for the reply! I have manages to locate the relevant capacitor - one is 0.2F and the other is 1F. Any idea which one is better - I assume the bigger 1F cap will give me more time to change the batteries ??

I found a newsgroup posting from someone who has done the replacement. He recommended the part here and said the .33F capacitor would have the largest capacity of those shown.
