    Default MyVGA

    Hi!

    Yet another resolution switcher for e800/e805.

    Features:

    - Switch Toshiba e800/e805 Pocket PC in following resolutions:
    + 240x320 - Portrait, standard resolution and upside down (Rotation on the angle of 180?);
    + 320x240 - Landscape, left- or right-handed (Rotation on the angle of 90? or 270?);
    + 480x640 - Portrait, normal or upside down (Rotation on the angle of 180?);
    + 640x480 - Landscape, right-handed (Rotation of screen on the angle of 90? clockwise). Left-handed VGA-mode is unfortunately not supported at the moment because of the lack of documentation;
    - Change Fonts, which are used for menus, and sizes of scrollbars. Settings are stored independently for each video mode;
    - Store/restore of registry-settings by changing video mode. This allows to readjust other programs to selected resolution (application must have the ability to change it's settings). You have to only specify which registry's entries must be stored. You do not specify real values, only their names. After that settings can be adjusted directly in application. You can change settings (e.g. FontSize in Reader-program) any time, without need to adjust settings of MyVGA. MyVGA track changing of registry's entries and stores/restores current settings automatically and for each video mode individually.
    - Small and fast. MyVGA is written using C++, it does not require Visual-Basic- or any other runtimes to be installed on the Pocket PC, it's size is less than 100Kb and it starts shortly.
    - Command line support. MyVGA detects several command line parameters and can switch video mode without showing main window. It is usefull, if you want to switch modes from your favorite launcher.
    - Does not require setup. The program consists of only one exe-file, which can be placed in any folder.

    This program is freeware, it is published under GPL and therefore available with sources.

    Comments are welcome.

    with the Best Regards,
    hugbug.

    EDIT: 17.Feb.2004: The project is closed, link was removed.

    Wow, the program looks very promising. I will give it a try later on today. Thank you for contributing your expertise and time to the pocket pc community.

    Good job !

    In my limited testing changing resolution and saving the font size seems to be working fine.

    Transcriber doesn't seem to be working in VGA standard mode. I haven't tested all the other modes yet.

    I did install it after just uninstaling ResFix 2.0 and vgaswapper.

    Edit -

    Transcriber started to work after I switched to landscape and back. Not sure what caused it not to work, but things are fine now.

    Changing of skins on the today screen does not seem to work, the registry has the right filenames but it does not switch on a reset. Maybe another glitch just with my system. Will test more and report.

    pdaadp,

    I do not beleive the noice in the E-800 has anything to do with switching resolution. The reason I say that is because my first unit started to whine without any resfix hacks in about 10 days. In fact I had not even used Toshiba's utility. The second unit also started to make the noice in about 8 days. This one did have the resfix program. As I am exclusively in VGA mode I have decided to keep this for now.

    Well I think we have the wi-fi light problem. The light does not come on!

    Thanks so much...

    it seems like it's working well... I'm not sure about the WiFi Light because I don't have any wifi stuff around me (and I can't remember if the light is supposed to go on anyway - if it is supposed mine doesn't either)...

    otherwise everything is looking incredible... Thanks again
