Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Hi!
I cant recall if I distributed the orinoco driver yet, my guess would be probably not. it doesnt work well enough to be useful yet (which is a regression because it used to a couple of years back)
On the plus side, I have got the merges mentioned above sorted out. Im now merging irda and the platform drivers for the io controller. hopefully that wont take long.-Spyro

Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Very nice work as far as I can read!!!

I am a newbie, but I could be really interested in putting back my old E740 into service and I am eager to help in testing and whatever thing I could do...
One question: what about "Opie" for E 70x series?
Finally one concern to Spyro: it seems I cannot access your homepage... is it right? it seems to load at first, but after a few seconds it goes on "404".... is this normal?

Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Hi!
Murphys law - I broke dokuwiki but the local cache still worked so I didnt notice - its back online now.
OPIE should work fine on any e-xxx machine, once you have the kernel up and running.
Progress report-wise:
MFD drivers are all merged or in upstream queues now. Even OHCI!
Im still pushing the for_rmk branch which you ccan see on my server right now.-Spyro

Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Much better now!
Thanks!
And I am findind your guide "Installation - A users perspective" really enlightening... and if a total linux newbie like myself is saying this, be assured that it is very very GOOD...
I will try soon in practice and I will let U know anything useful, if any, I could work out from my attempts (I am very optimistic about this, as U can see...)
Just the most obvious general questions: when finished, will the linux version overwrite the (sh##ful) windows CE inside the E740? Will It be persistent or will it loose every progress when the battery will have run out as wince??
MANY many thanks and keep up the astounding good work!!!

Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Hi all, I've just managed to boot Linux on old e740.
It seemed to ignore whatever I added to /ets/modutils so I merely added three modprobe calls to /etc/init.d/rcS to get the touchscreen to work, it's durty but it works.
But the question is, what architecture should I choose when downloading packages from angstrom-distribution.org/repo? I mean, can I download packages from their repo at all? Can I?...
Figured it out myself: armv5teLast edited by butros; 11-09-2008 at 12:28 AM.

Re: Linux on Toshiba e-Series
Hi Spyro,
I try to boot my e300 with your kernel but it stop booting with this message :
kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init.
I don't understand what is wrong.
I use your last kernel zImage_20080626, the bootloader for e330, the distro Angstrom and the modules in right place.
Some idea what's wrong???
Thanks in advance.
Xav.
