Question. Is Deje's mouse pointer for WM2003 not free? I do not have an external hard drive yet, but if I have to pay for the driver to get the mouse pointer I will. I have no problem at all with DeJe and Anypak teaming up (and providing something that we'd otherwise be waiting for for years from Tosh or MS), but I am confused b/c on Deje's site it says the free download Mpointer.exe is compatible with WM2003. Someone just fill me in please -- this might give me an "excuse" to buy the Anypak

The MPointer application is WM2003 compatible and still free.
mfa, I believe this is related to the picture viewer and/or file explorer you are using. If you can copy it from the USB device to the CF card than the driver is working. Did you try to view it with a different application. Try to install a Resco FE/Picture Viewer trial. These programs are working perfect on my side.

I tried using my 755 and the driver with my Archos Jukebox Recorder 20. Something in the combination completely fried the Archos. It's unusable. The disk is completely wiped and it causes my computer to re-boot whenever it is plugged into a USB port. Just a word to the wise, not a good combination.
I guess Anypack will be receiving a drive order from me soon!Moderator

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Thx for saving me the expense of buying the USB host driver, and from frying my beloved Archos! Hopefully a driver that works with archos for the 2003 operating system will be created soon.Originally posted by paulkbiba

I'm having a tough time reading whether you are serious or sarcastic. If they would sell you a driver that killed your drive, why would you then buy a drive from them?Originally posted by paulkbiba

I am not being sarcastic and you are being ignorant. The combination did, indeed, kill my Archos, however it was not the driver that did it.
A driver cannot kill anything, it is simply a software program. However, the electrical connection between the Toshiba and the Archos can cause problems, and must have done so in this case. If the Anypack drive is advertised, as it is, to work with the Toshiba, then I know that the electrical interface will work. And if it doesn't I can hold Anypack responsible because they recommended the drive and the interface cable. I certainly can't complain to either Toshiba or Archos about a combination that neither of them ever would have thought of, or planned for.Moderator

Thanks again DeJe -- rest assured - As soon as I can convince myself I really do need an additional 20GB of storage for my Toshiba (and I'm trying!), I will buy your driver. Great work.Originally posted by DeJe

The issue has nothing to do with bandwidth.I don't follow, are you refering to bandwidth costing you money for the site? If so then I can host the files for you (free of charge obviously). I'm just a little behind on the thinking here......
The issue is the time to write the driver and the need for hardware to make sure it works. Why would you expect someone you don't even know to write software for you and not charge for it? And should that person also pay for the hardware needed to test the driver? Consider the issue and it will begin to make sense to you...

It makes perfect sense, you are just trolling.Originally posted by mkrigsman

Or you could take into account all the people who DO do those things, and then DO release them for free.
I refered to bandwidth simply because of the way he stated that it cost 20c per download for him, at least thats what I read it as.

Quite tactful, aren't you? You are the one who said, "Something in the combination completely fried the Archos" without being specific. An errant hardware driver can indeed harm a mechanical device by ordering it beyond its limits or by repeatedly driving it against its stops.Originally posted by paulkbiba

A word of advice -- you won't find many folks responding to your requests for help/advice on this board if your comebacks consist of personal attacks.
