    Default White Screen

My buddy's screen went totally white. When he turns off the pda it goes black. soft + hard reset does nothing. Has this happened to anybody else and if so is there a way to fix it other then sending it in.

    thanks in advance

    Cool

Sounds like if it doesn't help to do a hard reset you're going to have to send it in (excuse me, your "buddy" is going to have to send it in ). When did this start happening (i.e. after an attempted ROM update, just after turning off the unit, etc.)?

I had that happen to mine about 3 weeks ago. First I lost the top 1/2" of screen (went white) then when I was trying to get it fixed through hard resets, the whole screen went white.

Called on Monday and had it back on Friday.

I have the same problem - just some thin horizontal lines across the PDA and a few coloured bands on the top part of the screen. I tried a hard reset but no cure. The PDA still works - when I do a hard reset, and use the nav pad/stylus on the top part of the screen, I almost make out that the first welcome screen has changed to the digitizer screen.
So I am assuming that I've got to send it back into Tosh.

Anyone know how much it'll cost. I bought the unit from Amazon but am currently residing in Asia - so the warranty doesnt apply here, or at least that's what I've been told.

    Happy New Year

I've had the same thing happen to my e740 twice now. It's sitting dead next to me right now. I'm waiting on a box from Toshiba to ship it back in. Both times now the folks at Tech Support have agreed to have the unit fixed.

This is the first place that I have seen mention of the ATI chip being bad.

I'm wondering if this is some kind of regular problem with the e740 (like a bad batch of graphics cards) or if there is some behavior that I can change to keep this from happening in the future.
