After seeing the above thread, I called again today. My details were still there and the guy said they would start sending out the boxes this week.

me too
I registered my details with Toshiba UK about 2 weeks back.
Read an item on Forum over week-end about 'lost' UK details.
Phoned Toshiba first thing Monday morning
My details were still 'there' .... got same "this week" promise
Question : -
Where are our UK e740's gonna go for 'repair' ?
When my e570 died, there appeared to be no UK-based repair centre .... retailer said they had a 'repair deal' with Toshiba.
It took retailer 3 months to decide they could fix, and eventually replaced with new unit !
Any ideas ?

Asked the guy about this as well, he said it's being co-ordinated from Germany, but the units will be done here.
I'll wait and see, as long as they turn it round quickly and it comes back in the condition it went then fine.

Yep, units will be going to Germany they set up a refurb line there.
I also registered two weeks ago and called again today because I'd read the 'lost details' thread. Reply I got today was that my details were still registered, but that I couldnt be given a date when I'd be contacted!Previous PDAs:
Psion 7, Psion 5, Casio something

Hmmmm .......
So .... Germany it is then .... as noted above, if it's done properly, and doesn't take too long then OK.
What about our ROM version .... have I not read somewhere that Germany is still evaluating the new ROM image and won't be including in the 'recall' ?
That aside .... it still looks like there is no UK based Toshiba / 3rd Party service facility that has the abiity to repair our Toshiba PDA's .... not good news for either of my Tosh's .... especially the e570 with that built-in battery !
Hmmmm .......

Hi all,
I am from HK. I just called Toshiba SG service hot line. They have battery recall service for Asia area. The procedures are,
1. Call the service hot line 800-964-168 (no need any area code and Toll free)
2. They will ask your name, your e740's serial no, P/N, address.......
3. They will send you a box from SG to your registered address (it will take 2-3 days)
4. Follow the instruction in the box and back up your data in e740.
5. Put the e740 to the box.
6. Call Toshiba SG again.
7. DHL people will pickup the box and send to Toshiba SG.
8. Toshiba SG will the battery updated and Rom updated. (it takes 7-21 days)
9. Send back to you.
I hope this can help you la!!!!
