Default help with Wi-Fi and ActiveSync

    Hi,

I just installed my cf wi-fi card to my e-200. Very nice!

Now I need help with activesync to my desktop via wi-fi. I think this is possible, but I just don't know how to do it.

Any help, instructions or websites would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

I have found that I have to change my network settings (Settings->Connections-->Connections) for "My Network Card Connects to". For ActiveSync to work, I have to set that to "Work". Also make sure your desktop PC's name is chosen in ActiveSync Tools-->Options-->"Include PC when synchronizing remotely and connect to" and that this box is checked off. I sync with a machine at work and at home so I always have to check to make sure its pointed to the right one. Finally, I think it is set by default to disconnect immediately after finishing a sync. If that's okay with you, then you dont need to do anything else. If you want it to stay connected (maybe to perform a backup or install software, both of which is infinitely faster than via USB). Setting is Tools-->Schedule-->When synchronizing remotely with my PC, disconnect when complete.

If you are setup to browse the Internet from your PPC (maybe sharing a dialup Inet connection or a dsl/cable connection) make sure to change Settings-->Connections-->Connections-->"My Network Card Connects to" to "Internet" when you are done with ActiveSync if that is how you have it setup usually.

hope that helps, your mileage may vary if your setup is different than mine. I am using a linux box that is performing NAT and is a DHCP server in order to browse right from my PPC.

One more thing, you wont be able to connect via WiFi unless you have already created a partnership (via the cradle) with your desktop PC.
