Re: IOS for BlackBerry
Good day!
My sister wants to upgrade her OS in her blackberry phone, she often complains that her phone would sometimes hang-up whenever she has something to download, moreover, their are times as well that she can't download apps, like when she tried to download Twitter app then it didn't download that's why I thought that OS upgrade would help her solve this.
She's using BlackBerry Curve.

Re: IOS for BlackBerry
Welcome to Brighthand, Ken.

That makes more sense, but you posted in the Apple forum, not the Blackberry one. That's why we were confused. Hopefully a mod will come along and move this thread and fix the title.
I don't have an answer because I am not an expert on BBs. Hopefully someone in the right forum can help you.Hook's Stories

Re: IOS for BlackBerry
BBOS updates generally come from the carrier. I once got away putting a Sprint OS update on a Verizon phone but later got rid of it because it was so unstable. I was using a BB8830 that came with BBOS 4.2.2.196 (old as the hills) where the email was shown in plain text without attachments or images. I tried going to 4.5 with its better email rendering and slightly-better-than-mainframe browser but I had nothing but problems. Then when I tried getting apps, many of them required BB OS 5 or later.
For us to know which BB OS you need, we need to know which phone she has. Curve covers a lot of models ranging from the 8xxx series to more recent phones that can run BB 7. There are lots of little "point update" OS releases that can solve problems. For instance, when I first tried BB OS 4.5, it was buggy and unstable but when I downloaded a later version (this time from Verizon) it was pretty solid (as BB OS goes that is).
If you go to BB.com looking for the latest OS and pick your phone from their list, it will send you to your carrier's web site for the latest OS "tested and certified" by your carrier. If it turns out to be the same OS she is running now, fear not. Sometimes reloading the same OS does wonders to make a BB more stable (for a while).
I should add that it didn't help that this thread had a typo iOS for BB and was in the Apple forum when it should have been OS for BB in the BB forum.

Re: IOS for BlackBerry
Thread was retitled and moved into the Blackberry forum a few days ago.
FYI, ken19, you should know that forum helpers are members and volunteers who share the knowledge that they've acquired. We all have expertise in different areas; questions are answered by those who are confident in the accuracy of their information regarding a particular device and other pertinent factors. For example, I have experience with Palm and Apple but have no experience with Blackberry or Android. I trust others to respond to questions regarding those areas. Combined, we cover the range of mobile devices.
